Other ActivitiesWe hope you enjoy your winter activities while at the park.It is our goal to provide a safe, enjoyable area for park vis-itors.
1. Winter camping is available in Sandstone RidgeCampground on the designated sites. Pit toilets are avail-able in the campground. Water is available at the East Sideof the park office. Campers should register at the self-reg-istration station at the park office prior to setting up camp.Park stickers may also be purchased at the self-registrationstation.
2. Mirror Lake is very popular for ice fishing. When travelingacross the ice, be extremely cautious of the ice conditionsat all times. Ice thickness varies and may not support a per-son. Weather conditions, springs, animals or currents maycause thin or deteriorated ice conditions at any time of thewinter. The Department does not monitor ice conditions onMirror Lake.
3. A candle-light ski, hike and snowshoe event is a popularway to spend a winter night out. Please ask the park staffabout upcoming events or visit www.wiparks.net.
Designated Use AreasTrails, Beaches, picnic areasand other designated recre-ational or educational useareas, in conformance withWisconsin State Statute aredepicted on this property map.All other areas are consideredundesignated and are notinspected or maintained by theDepartment. Park users areencouraged to limit their activi-ties to designated use areas.
Safety Tips1. If an injury occurs while onthe trail, please contact thepark office staff or dial 911.(Sauk County EmergencyMedical Service).
2. Please follow the signs andarrows on the trails for yoursafety and others.Ski/Snowshoe within your abili-ty and always leave enoughspace between you and otherskiers/snowshoers.
3. Most of the trails are easy tomoderate in difficulty. A fewtrails will have hills with difficultturns. Please use caution at alltimes when on the trails.
4. Ski trail conditions canchange rapidly throughout theday. Trails that are heavily usedcan quickly be destroyed, evenif groomed earlier in the day.Ski in control.
5. All ski trails are tracked fordiagonal skiers and some trailsare groomed also for skateskiers. Skate skiers shall keepto the left side of the trail.Where the trail is too narrow toskate, please diagonal ski inthe set of tracks. Diagonalskiers, especially beginners willappreciate a clear track.
6. Hunting is allowed in thestate park at certain times. Seethe information at the parkoffice for season dates. If youski during a hunting period,please be sure to wear brightclothing.
Rules1. PETS are not allowed ongroomed ski trails. Pets arewelcome at the park in otherdesignated use areas asmarked and hiking/snowshoe-ing trails. They must be kept ona leash no longer than 8 feet inlength and be under physicalcontrol at all times.
2. A vehicle park sticker isrequired. Purchase sticker atthe park office.
3. The park is open year roundfrom 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
4. Hiking and snowshoeing isnot allowed on ski trails. Thepark offers other trails for thoseactivities.
