Charity Spending 2012

What did they do with the money we gave them?

NEEED Project

€1500

NEEED* Burkino Faso project via Stern Stewart Institute. The MIWC donation will fund one girl's two-year teacher certificate program including living expenses, food, incidentals and the educational program.  Because the two-year program costs approximately $1,500 (approx €1,200), there will be an excess that will help partially fund a second girl to continue her education to become a trained primary school teacher in Burkina Faso.

* NEEED: Nimubs, Enfance, Environnment, Education et Developpement

Mary’s Meals€500Mary's Meals is an international movement that sets up school

feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent

children from gaining an education.

By providing a daily meal (from locally sourced ingredients) in a

place of education, chronically poor children are attracted to the

classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an

escape route from poverty.

Over 600,000 children receive a Mary’s Meal every school day.

The average cost to feed a child for a whole school year is £10.70 /

€12.40 / $16.80.Daily attendance improves – Concentration

improves – Education of girls is encouraged – Better grades are

achieved

Bare essentials needed for everyday living in the refuge, from the first meal to bed linen, from basic kitchen utensils to shower gel.

The Frauenhaus receives no funding from government, local or otherwise, for these items.

In one year the Frauenhaus gives refuge, on average, to 85 violently abused women and their children. This money will help someway to fill the gaps that the donations from our members do not fill.
