CourseDescriptionThiscourseisdesignedformusicteacherswhohaveaccesstoaniPad2orlatermodelforuseintheclassroom/rehearsalaswellasteacherswhoareworkingina1:1iPadclassroom.ThecoursewillfocusonrecordingvideoandaudiousingtheiPad.Videoscreenrecording,referredtoas“screencasting,”willbecoveredindepth,focusingonhowtorecordqualityvideosforstudentlearning,interviews,andothertutorials.Inaddition,studentvideoprojectsandactivitieswillbepresentedtoenhanceassessment.UsingtheiPadtorecordliveaudioofensemblesandperforminggroupswillalsobeaddressedaswellasforstudentassessment.Cloudoptionsforstoringaudioandvideowillinclude

GoogleDrive,Soundcloud,YouTube,VimeoandTeacherTube.BasicknowledgeoftheiPadisrecommendedalthoughnotrequired.CourseLearningObjectivesStudentsshouldlearnandbeabletodemonstrate:

1. Recordandeditaudio,loops,SmartInstrumentsandSoftwareInstrumentsusingGarageBandforiPad.2. CreatingaccompanimentsandpracticefilestosharewithyourstudentsusingGarageBandforiPad3. IntegrateGarageBandforiPadinyourteaching.4. CreatelessonsforintegratingGarageBandforiPadwithyourstudents.5. CreateScreencastsforinstructionalpurposes.6. ShareaudiofileswithyourstudentsviaDropbox,GoogleDriveandSoundCloud.7. StudythebasicconceptsforcreatingvideosusingtheiPad’sCameraapp.8. UseiMovieforiPadtoeditvideos.9. Createlessonsforintegratingvideowithyourstudents.

CourseRequirementsandExitAssessmentStudentsareexpectedtoengageinregularinteractionwiththeinstructorandtheirclassmatesthroughoutthisonlinecourse.Interactionisrequiredbothsynchronouslyand/orasynchronouslyviaavarietyofformatsineachandeverylesson.StudentsareexpectedtousetheinternalprivatemessagefeatureinSchoologywhencommunicatingprivatelywiththeinstructor.StudentswillalsoreceiveweeklyannouncementsandpostsintheUpdatessectionofthecoursewheretheycanreplywithquestionsand/orcomments.StudentsareencouragedtopostquestionsfortheclassintheUpdatesarea.Duringthecourse,studentswillengageinaweeklydiscussion,workshop,andassignment,posedbytheinstructor.Postingandrespondingtopostsbyotherclassmembersisacourseexpectationandrequirement.Theinstructorwillactivelymoderatediscussionquestionsandinteractwithstudentsonaweeklybasis.Startinginthesecondweekofthecourse,theinstructorwillschedulealiveaudiochatsessionmadeavailabletoallmembersoftheclass.Thetimeanddayofthechatwillbedeterminedinthefirstweekofthecourseviaanonlinequestionnaire.Attendanceinchatsessionsisoptionalasthesesessionsprovideameansforstudentswhoneedadditionalassistanceandhavequestionsaboutthecoursecontent.AllchatsessionsarerecordedandpostedtotheUpdatessectionofthecourse.Studentsareencouragedtoreviewtherecordingofeachchatiftheyareunabletoattend.Eachstudentwillintegrateoneormorepartsofthecourseintotheirteachingduringandafterthecourseends.CourseOutline:CourseCalendarSummer2017Week1:Topic1GarageBand:Part1

GradingCriteriaandAssessmentMethodsThiscoursehasbeendesignedwithaspecifictimelineofactivitiesandassignmentduedates.Followingthistimelinewillallowforthemaximumassimilationofmaterialpresentedandnurturefluencywiththecoursematerial.Byadheringtotheweeklyduedates,allstudentsareatthesameplaceandcancreativelyandeffectivelyinteract.Withthisinmind,thefollowinggradingpolicyisineffectforthiscourse.DueDates
