What’s happening? 的意思是 “发生了什么事情? ”。在本单元可以翻译为“在做什么事情?”。如:

语可以是名词或代词。 be ready for 与其意义相近 , 意为“为……做好了准备”。但前者强调动作,后者强调状态。如 : All the students in my class are getting ready for the exam. 班上所有同学都在准备考试。 We are ready for the exam. 我们为考试做好了准备。

do sth. 结构,它通常可以和 get ready for sth.

help 作动词,意为“帮助,援助”,其后可接名词或代词作宾语。 help 还可用于 help sb.

(to) do sth. 和 help sb. with sth. 结构中,表示“帮助某人做某事” 。如 :

请帮我学英语。

此外 , help 还常用于 help oneself (to sth.) 结构 , 表示“自用 ( 食物等 )” 。如: Help yourself to some more meat. 别客气,再吃点儿牛肉。 Help yourself to some more beer. 请再喝些啤酒。[ 拓展 ]     help 也可以作名词,意为“帮助”。如 : Can you give me some help? 你能帮帮我吗?
