Dear Friends,
Thanks to your continued support, 2012 has been a very productive year! Because of your
help, we have been able to expand our public awareness campaigns, which have focused
on prevention and detection. The taxi PSAs have educated millions of New Yorkers and
tourists. New York subways and the Long Island Rail Road riders read our posters. During
the summer months, ten popular magazines featured our full page PSAs. We teamed up with
Yankee Radio for weekend home game public service announcements that remind fans to be
sun safe. With the assistance of our Junior Board, we have been able to develop a social
media presence. New web technologies will enable us to broaden our audience, especially to
younger people, emphasizing our message that skin cancer is preventable and, melanoma,
if caught early can be cured. Our recent partnership with the US Lifesaving Association
represents a milestone for skin cancer/melanoma education. This highly respected organ-
ization of over 14,000 members will have the opportunity to use our resources in their
educational programs. As the Summer Olympics are played in London, 18,000 young junio
Olympians representing 50 states and several territories will compete in Houston, Texas.
Mollies Fund will again provide them with our brochure, Have You Checked Your Skin
Lately? Many of the competitions are outside and it is vital that we empower our young
athletes with sun safety knowledge. We believe that by raising awareness we can break the
pattern of increasing skin cancer and melanoma statistics.
We applaud the newly signed NY State law that prohibits indoor tanning beds by those
16 and under and requires 17 year olds to obtain parental permission. This law is based on
significant evidence that indoor tanning is undeniably linked to increased risk of developing
melanoma and other forms of skin cancer. California and Vermont have already passed laws
prohibiting use by minors.
Locke Lord LLP regularly advises our foundation on the clearance and protection of our
trademarks, copyrights, service marks, slogans, brands, designs and logos. Their attorneys work
to ensure that we can maximize our opportunities to collaborate with other organizations to
promote awareness, while protecting our brand and image in the process. Our accountants,
N. Cheng & Co., P.C., have completed the review of our 2011 financials and we are pleased
to share those results with you. We especially want to thank so many of our friends who freely
give of their time in support of the foundations activities. As you can see from our pie chart
graphs on page 2, your efforts have enabled Mollies Fund to keep administrative expenses to
a minimum resulting in more funds available for the support of our mission --- Melanoma
Awareness and Prevention.
Thank you again in Mollies name, for your interest and support. Jack

Skin Cancer Program at NYCs Junior LeagueThe Volunteer Training and Leadership Committee and the Womens Cancer
Prevention Committee of the Junior League of New York organized a forum on May
15th to educate their members about Skin Cancer. The Womens Cancer Prevention
Committee is a community outreach committee which works to educate women about
cancer and provide women with life-saving information, including the importance of
early detection and potential prevention. Over 150 members gathered to hear Dr.
Marnie Nussbaum, a NYC private practice dermatologist and clinical instructor of der-matology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, instruct the audience about the different
types of skin cancer, mole identification, importance of sunscreen and the toxicity of
tanning beds. Julie Biggane presented a powerful film further describing preventative
behaviors and the necessity of early detection. Amanda Sung shared her personal
account of her diagnosis and the life-saving evidence of early treatment. She creditedMollies Fund for the taxi public service announcement that alerted her to her
melanoma. Monique Moore, Co-Founder of Mott 50, a UPF sun protective garmentline, offered fashionable suggestions for protecting skin from harmful UVA rays and
the negative effects of sun damage. All participants received sunscreen samples of
Anthelios 60 Ultra Lights sunscreen and Mollies Fund educational brochures.

Mollies Fund Forms Junior BoardIn order to expand the audience and message of the foundation,
the Board of Directors unanimously agreed at their annual
January meeting to form a Junior Board. The Board has already
convened twice in New York City. Our volunteers have made a
huge impact with our presence on social media. We look forward
to their fresh input and the exciting projects they plan to initiate.
Mollies Fund Partners with LaRoche-Posayto Bring Sunscreen to Cancer Patients
Mollies Fund distributed 10,000 pieces of Anthelios 45 Ultra Light Sunscreen to cancer centers across the
country, with 9,500 pieces reaching those in need at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. This productwas gifted by the LaRoche-Posay Corporation. A portion of this donation will help support the Moffitt Cancer
Centers Mole Patrol, a skin cancer screening program that travels to venues around Florida to offer
free skin screenings, sunscreen samples and valuable sun safety
education to the public. The remaining units were distributed
at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City, Winthrop
University Hospital and Mercy Medical Center on Long Island.
Through our extensive research and education we know that there is a strong
link between melanoma and other types of cancer, explains Yannick Raynaud,
general manager of LaRoche-Posay. The Moffitt Cancer Center provides approxi-
mately 150 outpatient infusions during the week and about 50 on the weekend.
The donation was intended to make a significant difference to these patients who
have a compromised immune system and therefore experience a greater sensitiv-
ity to the sun.

Mercy Nurses Learn about Skin Cancer from Mollies Fund
First Annual Tribute to Dennis CorkeryOn March 3rd, friends and family of Dennis Corkery, who lost his
battle with melanoma, joined together to celebrate his life at the
K of C Hall in Seaford, New York. Mollies Fund presented a short
video at the beginning of the event which emphasized melanoma
awareness and prevention. Our foundation was honored to be the beneficiary
of funds raised during the dinner and concert which featured the Legendary Hooligans Band.
Dennis was the lead guitarist for the rock-n-roll band, which entertained thousands of New Yorkers over the past
ten years. Friends and followers will always recall his zest for life and the friendship he generously shared.
The Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation sponsored Lunch and Learn an educational semi-
nar for nurses and nursing students of Mercy Medical Center on June 12th.
Victoria Siegel, EdD, MSN, RN, CNS, Associate Professor Suffolk Community College and Adjunct
Associate Professor at Molloy conducted the presentation. Participants viewed a
special educational video created for the nursing community by Mollies Fund
and Z-Films. Dr. Siegel gave a PowerPoint presentation and attendees could
view sun damage on themselves with the skin analyzer machine.
Dr. Siegel reminded the nurses that they should take the initiative in teach-
ing patients of all age groups and races about sun-protective behaviors, the
dangers of tanning and recognition of signs and symptoms of skin cancer.
Nurses also should be role models for proper sun-protective behaviors.
Through the role of assessment, advocacy and education, nurses can have
a significant impact in decreasing the epidemic of skin cancer.
Nurses received samples of Anthelios 60, a broad spectrum sunscreen donated by LaRoche-Posay. They also were given
Have You Checked Your Skin Lately? bags and self-check brochures from Mollies Fund plus re-prints of Dr. Siegels cur-
rent published articles on adding skin assessment screening on admission to hospitals and the Role of the Nurse in Skin
Cancer Prevention.
Garden City Middle School Sun Safety Assembly Rocks! On Thursday, May 24th, the Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation presented their annual sun
safety program to the Garden City Middle School 6th graders. Mrs. Noreen Bonagura, LCSW,
announced the program. She explained to the students that she hoped they would take the
information about sun behaviors learned in the presentation home to their parents and family
members. Since Memorial Day is the beginning of the summer season, the students would be
able to practice immediately what they learned, Mrs. Bonagura
reminded the students.
The students viewed The Dark Side of the Sun, an educational video
produced and created by Mollies Fund and MCS Advertising. Dr. Ted
Daly, Garden City Dermatology, questioned the students about facts
presented in the film. They had many questions about sunscreen. Dr.
John Clarke, the Physician Musician wrote and performed an excit-
ing rap song Stop Melanoma, which summarized facts learned in
the presentation. The children enthusiastically joined in the chorus.
All the students received hats, educational brochures and a download of Dr. Clarkes
song. The Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation thanks Doctors Daly and Clarke for
so generously donating their time to support this program.

1600 Junior Lifeguards inHuntington Beach, CaliforniaLearn About Skin CancerThe Junior Lifeguard Program in Huntington Beach, Ca. was
established in 1964 to educate children to recognize potential
hazardous conditions associated with an ever-changing aquatic
environment. The initial class of 24 junior guard students has
blossomed to an impressive 1600! The Huntington Beach Junio
Lifeguard Program is world renowned attracting students from
Germany, France, England, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and
Mexico. Students representing: Oregon, Washington, Alaska,
Hawaii, New York, Utah and Florida also attend the eight
week program.
Students are schooled in the oceanic environment, First Aid,
CPR, mutual cooperation, competition techniques, and lifesavin
methods. This year, Linda Reuter, RN, included skin cancer pre-vention and awareness in the curriculum. Junior guards viewed
our DVD, The Dark Side of the Sun. At the end of the presen
tation, students began looking at their own moles and freckles.
Mrs. Reuter remarked, I feel the DVD was done well for a rang
of ages, contained current and accurate information and left the
guards feeling empowered that they are able to take responsibil-
ity for their own health.

Mollies Fund Joins With TheUnited States Lifesaving AssociationTo Promote Awareness
The United States Lifesaving Association is a non-profit professional organization of over 14,000 members involved in life-
uarding and open water rescue. They have partnered with our foundation to provide information and services on skin
ancer. The USLA will use The Dark Side of the Sun, the educational DVD created and produced by Mollies Fund with the
upport of MCS Advertising, to teach their members the necessity of sun protection in combatting melanoma. The Town of
Hempstead currently uses this film as a segment of their in-house training for national certification. The USLA supports
chool beach safety educational programs and this film will be available for these initiatives.
The USLA works to reduce the incidence of death and injury in the aquatic environment through public education, national
feguard standards, training programs, and other means. B. Chris Brewster, President, explained: The US Lifesaving
Association welcomes the opportunity to partner in this effort. The primary goal of a lifeguard is prevention of injury. Just as
we recommend to our members, we recommend EVERYONE cover-up and PROTECT themselves. Mollies Fund looks for-
ward to our partnership which enables us to expand our message of sun safety to the lifesaving and swimming community.
Jay Gallagher Memorial Lacrosse TournamentOn June 16th, and 17th, the Garden City Youth Lacrosse Program and the Jay Gallagher

Your CommentsI just wanted to let you know that the materials were a
huge success at our health fair-we probably had more
interest from the students on our campus for this topic
than any other in previous years, and it was in no small
measure due to the wonderful materials that you shared with me. Christopher L. Fink, PhD, Department Chair, Health andHuman Kinetics, Ohio Wesleyan University, April 21, 2012
Thank you so much for extending the invite to todays event
(NYU Community Skin Cancer Outreach Program). To say, I
learned something is an understatement. I have already come back
and spoken to numerous colleagues of mine (especially about the
tanning figures) Kristina Shemming, April 20, 2012
I am a Community Program Coordinator and Health
Educator in Jacksonville, Illinois. I am preparing a pres-
entation and no tan pledge to take to area colleges and
high schools this May. Your materials are fantasticMollies
story is touching, and speaks to the age group I am so passion-
ately trying to reach Wendy Smith, February 22, 2012
This resource (brochure) is incredible and flies out of my
hands at events. I work in an Ontario county that borders
on Lake Erie so we have several beach towns as well as
many municipal pools that are horribly lacking in shade
Your familys work on behalf of your daughter Mollie is
phenomenal. You truly make a difference and I believe there
are fewer families suffering the agonizing loss of a vital young
person because of your efforts.. Debbie Bullas-Rubini, RN,Public Health Nurse, Ontario, Canada, February 6, 2012
Wanted to take a minute and tell you that your work is
making a huge impact. I was in a cab with my boss the
other day and the Mollie piece came on. He said, my son
only wears sunscreen because of this commercial
Allison Saloy, June 6, 2012
Since we received the pocket guides, during our winter
here in Florida, I actually saved some of your handouts
until our spring break.I even know several staffmem-
bers who made appointments with a dermatologist after reading
Have You Checked Your Skin Lately? Lizette Robles,Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa
We have the Mollies Fund posters hanging in all of
your exam rooms. Many patients upload the App while wait-
ing for the doctor and the brochures have literally flown out of
our office. This is truly an innovative way of advancing skin
cancer and melanoma prevention. Thank you so much for
supporting our practices objectives.

Since being diagnosed in December 2010 with Stage IV
Metastatic Melanoma, educating our campers, their par-
ents and our staff about melanoma is very important. As
part of our curriculum, each camper receives this card
and training on how to be active in preventing melanomaand skin cancer. This summer over 700 of our surf campers
and families in New Jersey, North Carolina and California will
receive this wallet-sized resource that provides vital information.
Were so glad to have such a great resource to give. Please thank
your donors for us! Joe Matera, National Director, FCASurf, June 12, 2012
We at the Garden City Pool have to extend our most sin-
cere thank you to Mollies Fund for your generous donation of
sunscreen for our patrons and the hats for our staff. The sun-
screen has been an invaluable addition to our facility,
allowing our patrons to protect themselves as they enjoy themselveson these beautiful hot summer days. Also, our staff has been mak-
ing use of the hats, keeping the lifeguards and attendants cool
and safeas they watch over our facility each and every day.
We cannot thank you enough for your dedication each
year in helping our members have a safe and enjoyable
summer. Grace Chianese, Pool Manager, July 18, 2012
My team of Public Health Nurses uses the video and self-
examine cards to provide education to hundreds of teens
in each of our area high schools. This is the second year using
these resources with great success. Many youths are thinking about
tanning due to spring weather and prom season. I usually startmy teaching by telling kids about Mollie. Youth can relate to
Mollies story because she was young (close to their age) when she
discovered her melanoma. The cards are a great resource that
youth can take away to check themselves later
Graham Smith, RN, Middlesex-London Health Unit,
June 4, 2012
Last summer, I started to become concerned with some
areas on my scalp that felt abnormally dry and over time,
could sense that the affected area was increasing. The con-
dition would have been carelessly disregarded had I not been
influenced by the material provided by Mollies Fund. I spokewith Jack and Maggie Biggane who referred me to a der-
matologist in New York City. Not only was the condition
on myscalp diagnosed as pre-melanoma, there were eighteen
other areas that needed to be addressed. More importantly, the
doctor noticed a small discoloration between my nose and eye.
That supposed mole turned out to be stage zero melanoma which
was addressed immediately. Lesson learned. Get regular check-
ups, and wear sunscreen. Years of fun in the sun are now years
of liability. Rob Speer, New Canaan, Ct., July 23, 2012
