“People First Language puts the person before the disability and describes what a person has, not who a person is.”

Goal: Use several data points to measure the implementation and outcomes of Family Engagement, Inclusive Practices, and Cultural Responsive Practices

Objectives:Utilize data to make data-based decisionsGain knowledge of Identifiers of Practice (IoP)Gain skills on how to triangulate multiple data points to assess focus area outcomes

Million Dollar Million Dollar QuestionQuestion

Before the effectiveness of a process/program can be measured accurately, the following must have been established:What is the expectation for all? Why are we doing this?Has it been defined to all? Has the appropriate Professional Development (PD) been provided to all involved? Is on-going support and follow-up PD in place?Does the Infrastructure support it?Have appropriate resources been provided?

*If not the data results & outcomes will be inconclusive.

Data TriangulationsData TriangulationsA type of data analysisA method to determine the effectivenessSingle data source may lead to errors in your decision making

Definition:Validation of data through cross verification from two or more sources.

◦Sources could be… Qualitative – Survey, feedback, interview, etc. Quantitative – Standardized test scores, interventions data, graduation rate, attendance,

discipline data, etc. Combination of Qualitative & Quantitative

Data Points: ◦Quality Indicator (QI) - LEA & School◦Identifiers of Practice (IoP) – on-site process◦SPP Indicators (1,3c, 4a & 4b, 8, 9, 10)◦PD training events & number of participates◦Survey & event feedback results

Quality Indicators Quality Indicators (QI) (QI)

Quality Indicator (QI) is a self-assessment tool completed by LEA & School Leadership Team. QI data helps a leadership team assess where they are in implementing indicators by focus area.

Indicators of Practice Indicators of Practice (IoP)(IoP) Identifiers of Practice (IoP) is a tool to help

each LEA Leadership Teams assess the implementation progress and future needs based on the focus areas. Process is completed by a group of people not the LEA Leadership Team.
