Rats fed lifelong with Monsanto GM maize or exposed through drinking water to its best selling fertilizer Roundup, suffered multiple damages and tumors in their bodies and organs, according to a French study.

Gilles-Eric Seralini, of the Caen’s University was the leader on this study

The rats suffered mammary tumors and severe damage to liver and kidneys.

The study was published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology and presented at a press conference in London.

Significantly, one of these varieties (MON 810) grown in Uruguay since 2004 and that another (NK603) was recently approved by the "National Biosafety Cabinet" composed of a set of ministries and authorities including the Ministry of Public Health.

The research results were reported in early December by the Committee for Independent Research and Information on Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN), based in Caen, France, one of the organizations that participated in the analysis.
