Residential ProgrammingMVDS has housing in Glenwood Springs, Vail, Carbondale, New Castle, Silt, Rifle, and Rulison.

Apartments: provide supported, independent living for 1-3 individualsGroup homes: provide supervised living for 6-7 peopleHost homes: provide individuals with an opportunity to live within a private family home.

Enrichment ServicesClients work alongside staff participating in activities and pursuing interests, learning to take care of themselves, and building relationships with their community and continuing community outreach. Enrichment services provide activities highlighted by group art, recreation and community activities.

Employment ServicesGuiding and encouraging healthy growth, learning, and acquisition of new skills and retention of previously learned skills. Community inclusive employment which provides meaningful jobs. Provide opportunities to work in a variety of settings located throughout the community

Medical Services

Registered Nurse acts as medical liaison As clients age, Medical Services becomes increasingly important

Early Intervention ServicesServes families with children from birth to 3 years in their natural environmentsTeach families how to care for a child with special needs or learning delaysStatistics show that if children can “catch up” before entering school, the cost savings are huge!Therapies include Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Social-EmotionalThis is a free service to all families

Family Support ServicesAssists families with children from birth through adulthoodExamples of how this helps includes:

Gas Hotel expensesRespite careHippotherapySwimming therapyOther therapies or expenses families are unable to cover due to the sever needs and expenses of having a child with a disability.

All individuals served meet the Colorado statutory definition of a person with a developmental disability. The purpose of Mountain Valley Developmental Services is to provide persons served and their families with supports that will promote skill acquisition, independence and inclusion within the community. Mountain Valley Developmental Services offers a unique and unduplicated service to County residents who have developmental disabilities. Without the services offered, the clients and their families would be unserved and further isolated in this beautiful and remote area of Colorado.
