The Emotional Intelligence Academy - MSc CBCA 2
Earn your degree and learn applicable knowledge and skills
The purpose of this course is to help you become better ‘readers’ of people and their behaviour, as well as become more aware of the cognitive and emotional drivers that drive the behaviour of ourselves and others.
You will be introduced to the various ‘channels’ of communication through which we attempt to convey to others, and in some cases ‘convince’ others, of our message.
The course explores numerous frameworks, approaches, and theories of communication from both a psychological and a linguistic point of view.
You will use the knowledge covered in the modules to dive deep into the processes that underlie communication, emotions, deception, the assessment of credibility, biases, influence, and more.
The course modules are taught by a team of experienced professionals that have a passion for the subjects covered throughout and have applied the knowledge and skills covered in real-world, high-stakes environments.
Blended learning for flexible education
Beginning in September 2019, this 2 year programme is delivered in a blended format using face-to-face tuition, online webinars, and online content through EIA’s online learning platform.

Developed on Key Research
The course has been developed using both research conducted in the fields of psychology, linguistics, criminology , and sociology.
It has also been designed with application in mind, with a view to create ‘research practitioners’ as an outcome, giving students the knowledge and skills for real-world contexts.
Online Learning Platform
EIA uses a state-of-the-art online learning platform to allow students to access their course content from the comfort of their own homes or while on the move using a mobile application.
The platform allows access to materials, interactive reviews, assessment submission and feedback, as well as a social forum to chat with other students and pose questions to the tutors .
Learning Resources
Access to a multi-disciplinary research database providing acclaimed full-text journals, magazines, and other valuable resources.
Face-To-Face: Live & Online Webinars
For each unit, online webinars will be held throughout the programme, recorded for those that are unable to attend. These will be a live chance to explore and critique the research and concepts being learnt through the programme.
Beginning with a two-day workshop and 1 day MSc Programme induction at our training venue in Manchester, UK you will start to develop both knowledge and skills from the start. A two-day Masterclass will be held in Manchester later in the programme, followed by a one-day introduction to further units of study. Toward the conclusion of the programme, students will meet in Manchester for a final workshop and to present the results of their “Advanced Research Project” to the tutors and fellow students.
Assessments
The programme units are each assessed using a combination of essays, reflective writing, video/audio analyses, and research critiques. The units and their related assessments are added approximately every month as you progress through your studies to ensure that you have time to commit to each of them. This gives you the opportunity to explore the knowledge, develop skill, and also to consider application as you move through the programme. Mentioned above, the final unit of the MSc programme “Advanced Research Project” will give students the opportunity to design and carry out their own research project, under the guidance of an appropriate tutor team member as a supervisor. This research will then be written up into the final Dissertation for the MSc and your results presented to your fellow students and the tutor team.
Programme Awards
The MSc Communication, Behaviour, and Credibility Analysis is a Level 7 programme and on successful completion of the module you will accrue 180 credits.
However, there are other exit points in the programme:
60 Credits - PG Certificate Communication, Behaviour and Credibility Analysis.
120 Credits - PG Diploma Communication, Behaviour and Credibility Analysis.

Entry Requirements
The MSc CBCA programme is aimed at those with a 2:1 degree or better, or in some cases a 2:2, often in a relevant subject, preferably with a level of work experience.
However for professionals and career-changers, extensive professional experience in place of a degree may be considered as Recognition of Prior Learning, but the RPL’s eligibility for the programme would need to be met.
International students also require a strong grasp of the English language (e.g. IELTS 6.5). An interview may be required to help you and us decide that you are likely to succeed with the programme.
Timeframe
The MSc CBCA programme is delivered over two years, the majority of the units being online distance learning with only three compulsory live attendances to reduce the travel of international students:
Behaviour Analysis Workshop + Year 1 Induction – Total of 3 days.
Masterclass Workshop + Year 2 Induction – Total of 4 days.
Final presentations of research projects – Total of 2 days.
