MSU Chemistry Ph.D. Application Process- Start to Finish (View is under Domestic Student; however International Student view will be similar)

STEP 1) Applicant Datasheet

Once you click SUBMIT; unless you get an ERROR message, your Chemistry Applicant Datasheet has been successfully submitted. If you are concerned about the submission, please email the graduate office- do not submit another

datasheet

Step 2) Submitting MSU Graduate Application; click on listed hyperlink

Click NEW APPLICATION

Start filling out the application

Then click I AGREE…CREATE MY APPLICATION

After you click I AGREE, the following instruction screen will appear. International Applicants will have the same view just everything will be changed to state international

The Instruction Screen will then appear as a new window

Enter Personal Information

Enter Address Information

Enter Other Information

Must select FALL semester- we only admit in the FALL

Must select 3575- Chemistry- (Doctoral)- we only admit for the Doctoral program

Personal & Academic statements can be entered below or as a seperate documents and uploaded into your student portal

Enter Educational Institutions Attended

Enter Employment and Activities

Enter Miscellaneous Screen

Please make sure to fill out GRE (domestic & international) TOEFL/IELTS(international) scoring information. If you have not taken the test please make sure to enter the date that the test will be taken

You do not need to fill out any information regarding your References. Your recommendation letters must be submitted within your Student Portal

If you click SAVE (up top) instead of SUBMIT APPLICATION you will get the listed screen

If you hit SUBMIT APPLICATION you will get the following screen

After you have clicked OK, if you are missing any area information you will then get the following message:

After you have clicked OK, if everything is entered and correct you will receive the following message:

We understand that you will see the given text stating information about paying the application fee. You DO NOT have to pay the application fee in order for us to view your application- we will still have access.

Your next step is now to click on the GRADUATE EDUCATION STUDENT PORTAL hyperlink that is listed in order to upload all the required documentation.

Once you click the GRADUATE EDUCATION STUDENT PORTAL hyperlink you will be taken to the following page where you will need to login with your APPLICANT ID and PASSWORD that you just received while creating your application

Step 3) Log into your Graduate Education Student Portal

Once you login to the student portal you will get the following webpage. This is where ALL documentation must be uploaded and where you will request your Letter of Recommendations

• All forms of communication that the Chemistry department makes with you, will be viewed within the E-Messages listed above. So it is very important that you check your student portal on a regular basis to see if the

Chemistry department is requesting any more documentation from you. • All Letter of Recommendations MUST be submitted within your student portal

• All required files MUST be uploaded within your student portal. If you are trying to upload a document and do not see a listed drop down title, please select the most relevant drop down and make sure your document is

titled so the search committee knows what the document is
