HamiltonSituated 295km W Melbourne, 500km E Adelaide. Hamilton, the retail and service centre of the Southern Grampians is situated on the intersection of 3 major highways and is serviced daily by V-Line coaches.
Hamilton has major chain stores and many boutique stores offering visitors an enjoyable shopping experience with all you need to make the most of your caravanning or camping experience. Gem FossickingClaude Austin State Forest - Hallam’s Rd (North of Cavendish)
A Fossicking Licence can be purchased from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. Phone 13 61 86. Fossicking is not permitted in the Grampians National Park or Black Range State Park.
MotorbikesRiding your motorbike through the forest is a popular pursuit and there are many areas of State Forest where riders can enjoy Victoria’s great outdoors. Roads open to the public in Victoria’s National Parks and reserves are also available for use by motorbikes. Riders must be fully licensed and the bike roadworthy and registered. BalmoralSituated 65km NW Hamilton. Ideally located within a few minutes of Rocklands Reservoir, Balmoral is surrounded by State forests and the nearby Black Range State Park. There is a caravan park and activities include camping, fishing, boating, bush walking, golf and tennis.

Rocklands Reservoir is renowned as the best redfin fishing in Victoria with trout also in good supply. Boat ramps are located at various points around the reservoir as well as camping, barbeque and picnic facilities, provisions for caravans and many bush walking trails.
CavendishSituated 26km N Hamilton. Cavendish offers ideal camping amongst giant red gums along the Wannon River. Activities include fishing, tennis, historic town walks, picnic facilities and gem fossicking. The picturesque ‘Settlers Walk’ brings the past to life.

ColeraineSituated 34km NW Hamilton. Historic township featuring specialist chocolate factory, eucalypt arboretum, historic railway station/visitor information centre and a caravan park. Activities include fishing, golf, swimming, tennis, horse racing, bowls and croquet.
DunkeldSituated 32km E Hamilton. A beautiful destination from which you can explore the stunning Grampians National Park. Dunkeld has an extensive range of accommodation including a community caravan park. Activities include fishing, bush walking, golf, bowls, horse racing, swimming, tennis, picnic facilities and bike riding.
GlenthompsonSituated 50km E Hamilton. Agricultural and pastoral community, the home to St Peter’s Anglican Church Mural and Oaklands Hill Windfarm. Swimming, tennis and picnic facilities are all available.
PenshurstSituated 33km SE Hamilton. Penshurst, the village at the foot of Mt Rouse, is steeped in volcanic features, showcased at the Volcanoes Discovery Centre. The caravan park is located near the Wetland Gardens and activities include swimming, horse racing, tennis, historic town walks, bric-a-brac and picnic facilities.
BranxholmeSituated 25km SW Hamilton. Branxholme is an agricultural community situated on the Henty Highway providing picturesque picnic facilities, fishing, swimming and tennis.
ByadukSituated 25km S Hamilton The site of Australia’s most recent volcanic eruptions some 8000 years ago. Byaduk features include the Byaduk Caves, Tumuli and Harman’s Valley. All are easily accessible.

Camping OptionsThere are many camping options in a variety of settings to suit all campers. The Grampians National Park camp sites listed in this brochure include those in the Southern Grampians.
Camping fees apply for most sites throughout the Grampians National Park, Mt Eccles National Park and the Cavendish on Wannon Camp Ground. Free camping is available at Wannon Falls (1 night only), Rocklands Reservoir and some Grampians National Park sites.
For caravan and RV travellers, Balmoral and Branxholme offer a free campsite, whilst Hamilton has designated free long vehicle parking. The Lake Hamilton Motor Village and Caravan Park and Hamilton Caravan Park offer free access to their dump points. The Dunkeld Caravan Park provides access to their dump point for a small fee.
