Once again it’s time to interact with you through the pages
of the newsletter ‘Buzz’.
The publication of the Autumn Edition of the newsletter for
the academic session 2019-20 gives me immense pleasure. The
newsletter trails the journey of success of our beloved stu-
dents in all fields, be it academics or curricular activi-
ties. From achieving exceptionally good results in CBSE exam-
inations to winning plethora of prizes in inter-school compe-
titions, this session has been a remarkable stepping stone
of our journey towards excellence.
I hope that the remaining session carries forward this tale
of triumph and our dear parents continue to collaborate to
inspire, motivate and prepare to combat the battle of life
in the best possible way.

Investiture Ceremony (Primary School)
The primary school Investiture Ceremony was conducted
on 6th August 2019 to usher in the primary school student
council. It marked the beginning of a new journey for the
budding office bearers.
The Vice Chairman of the school management committee,
Cmde Rohtas Singh, graced the occasion as the chief
guest. He administered the oath to the council and encour-
aged them to be kind, humble and trustworthy while dis-
charging their duties. He also emphasized that forming
the student council was an important aspect of the school
development programme and exhorted the parents and
teachers to support the young leaders in realizing their
potential.

The senior school Investiture Ceremony took place on 9 July.
The newly appointed council accepted their new roles under
the school flag with pride and pledged to work with utmost
sincerity and dedication.
The Chief Guest Vice Admiral B Dasgupta congratulated the
young leaders and advised them to be driven by desire and be
efficient and effective in discharging their duties
The Principal thanked the outgoing council of 2018-19 and mo-
tivated the new office bearers to live up to the school motto.
The programme concluded with the school song and national
anthem.

Award CeremonyAward CeremonyAward Ceremony
Navy Children School celebrated the annual Award Ceremony on 05 July
2019. The occasion was graced by the President of the Navy Wives Welfare
Association, Mrs. Geetha Ashok.
The event commenced with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati, followed by
the Principal’s address. The day witnessed class toppers and CBSE Exami-
nation toppers (X and XII) receiving awards under various categories for the
academic year 2018-19. The Chief Guest congratulated and felicitated all the
young achievers.
Bringing laurels and making the school exceptionally prouder than ever was
Sejal Saxena, who secured an All India Rank 3 and the second position in
Delhi in the CBSE Class X examinations, scoring an outstanding 99.4%.

Science Stream: Aditi Tiwari scored 96.8%
Commerce Stream: Nancy Yadav scored 96.5%

To motivate and encourage the students to achieve academic ex-
cellence awards were given under various categories.
The students (IV to VIII) who secured above 80% under SS catego-
ry were felicitated with R Adm. Gautam Singh Award.
PTA awards were given to the students (I-IX, XI) under the catego-
ries of showing remarkable improvement as well as excelling in ac-
ademics during the session.
The toppers, securing the first three positions in each class (VI-IX,
XI) were awarded INS India scholarships.
The Accountancy topper of class XI and Maths topper of class V
were awarded a book coupons.

School LaurelsSchool LaurelsSchool Laurels
This academic session 2019, has been witness to a number of vic-
tories in the form of inter-school competition prizes. The school has
earned laurels in 88 inter-school competitions organized by different
schools and organisations.
Students participated in 68 Zonal level events (literary, cultural,
sports, science) organized by the Directorate of Education (Zone-
26). In 52 events students have bagged first, second and third po-
sitions and qualified for the District/ Central level competitions. The
school participated in the Inter NCS Quiz and Debate competition
organized by NES and bagged the Best Speaker position in the De-
bate.
Last but not the least two students have qualified for the CBSE Na-
tional Games in the categories of 10 meter Rifle-Shooting and 10
meter Pistol-Shooting.
We hope that the journey of success continues and the session
ends with more accolades.

The school has started a new initiative THOTs for the students
of classes I- VI. An introductory workshop about the same was
conducted for the parents and students on 29th June 2019.
The programme is a game-play based experiential curriculum on
direct development of Higher Order Thinking Skills without us-
ing any academic content.
THOTs develops cognitive skills, thinking skills and six types of
intelligence in children by engaging „Executive Functions‟ of the
pupils‟ brains. The research studies prove this form of learning
to be the best for the students.

NO TOBACCO DAY NO TOBACCO DAY NO TOBACCO DAY
Indian Cancer Society along with Navy Children School, New
Delhi organized „World No Tobacco Day‟ on 26th April 2019.
The theme for the event was “Tobacco and Lung Health”. The
event had two categories – one for the juniors and the other
for the senior students. Junior category (Classes VI – VIII)
students designed paper bags, made out of old newspapers, with
creative paintings, collages and slogans. Senior category (class
IX – XII) students showcased the theme through beautiful mu-
sical-dance performances. 24 schools had participated from
Delhi NCR.
It was an enriching and enjoyable experience. The students
were inspired by the spirit of the cancer survivors.

Grandparents’ Day was celebrated on 26th Sept. 2019
The programme began with the children singing “Rainbow Song” followed by the street play titled “Bachpan”, stressing on the need of quality time spent together by the family members.
The Finale song “ Happy Grandparents Day” was sung enthusiastically by the students.
On the culmination of the programme the grandparents got an opportunity to take photographs in a colourful photo booth created specially for the occa-sion.
The show was well-appreciated.
“Grandparents are a bridge of love, from past to present and into the future.”

Founder‟s Day is traditionally a very important day in the school
calendar when members of the school community meet to com-
memorate those who founded the school.
Navy Children School celebrated its Founder‟s Day on 2 August
2019 with fervour, zest and enthusiasm . An extravaganza of ac-
tivities was presented by zealous students.
It commenced with Ganesh Vandana, performed by students of
class IX followed by the birthday dance by Tiny tots. Every class
gave their performance with grace. The relevance of Founder‟s
Day was presented by the students of class XI. The Principal ad-
dressed the gathering and encouraged the students to live up to
the school spirit. The programme culminated with the national an-
them.

On 14th August 2019, NCS(D) celebrated Independence Day during the
morning assembly hosted by the Udaigiri House.
The students of classes KG to XI participated in the assembly.
The Principal Mrs. Oshima Mathur addressed the students.
The gamut of activities included Sanskrit Geet, a dance performance “Hindi
Bhasha, Rajya Bhasha”, KG School Item “Chalo Jawaano, Badho Jawaano”
and a dance on “Unche Himalaya Se”.
The esteemed guests present on that day included:
OSA Members who presented the prestigious ‘Alumni School Topper
Rolling Trophy’ to Miss Atiriya Singh, topper of class XII, 2018-19, for se-
curing an astounding 97% and Bank of Baroda Representatives donated
some sports equipment to the school as their CSR Initiative.
The OSA President, Mr. Tarun Singhal gave an encouraging speech to moti-
vate the students.

Educational Educational Educational Trips Educational trips are a substantial part of the curriculum. The students of NCS
enjoyed various day trips ranging from visits to museums, to parks and plane-
tariums. While the students of Classes VI & VII got an opportunity to appreci-
ate the Indian art, tradition & culture through Museum Visits. Class VIII en-
joyed stargazing at the Nehru Planetarium.
Class IX got to strengthen their bonds with their classmates during their picnic
& appreciated wonders of science at the recently opened Waste to Wonder
Park.
Salutation Ceremony & Kargil Diwas celebrations at the National War Memori-
al instilled the feelings of pride and patriotism in the hearts of the visiting stu-
dents.
Visit to BrahMos Aerospace Museum inspired our students of Class XI to de-
velop a scientific temper and learn about the present state-of-the-art technolo-
gy in missile development in our country.

Educational trips and excursions have always been an in-
tegral part of the school curriculum. These activities
offer an opportunity to observe and experience the dif-
ferent facts of life beyond books. Some the places of
visits included Jim Corbett, Bhimtal-Nainital ,Yakult Fac-
tory– Sonipat etc.
