In-store stock managementRFID smart integrated reader portfolio
Manage your stock with item-level RFID
With RFID, you can take full control over your stock from the moment your merchandise arrives at the
store until the moment it leaves your store. And not just sometimes with some items, but continuously
with your complete stock.
With RFID readers at the key locations in your store – in the stock room, on the sales floor, at the POS
and at the store entrance, you know exactly which items have actually been delivered, which items have
already been moved to the sales floor, which items need to be replenished and even identify which
items were about to leave the store without being paid for. This insight enables you to prevent out-of-
stock situations without having to overstock and thus boost sales as you always have the right products
available for your customers.
To help you achieve this, Nedap offers the complete portfolio of high-performance fixed and mobile RFID
readers, ensuring a RFID-based stock management solution that is scalable and easy to integrate with
3rd party software systems.
Features & benefits:• High-performance, fashionable devices that perfectly fit in a retail store environment
• Best in-store RFID performance: featuring on-board stray tag filtering & direction detection
• Global standards: compatible with the GS1 EPC Gen 2 standard, compliant with local regulations
• Online device management as a standard for remote support & firmware updates
• Free, open API’s for easy integration with 3rd party and legacy systems
Designed for retailAll Nedap RFID devices are designed with retail stores and in-store applications in mind. The RFID readers
blend in with the store design, are easy to operate and can easily be rolled-out to hundreds of stores in a short
timeframe, and also managed afterwards. All Nedap RFID devices have an open Application Programming
Interface (API) that can be used by the retailer or a third party software company to integrate the devices in a
total RFID solution.
Dynamic Beam Steering
The multiple beams of the antennas are steered
electronically in rapidly changing directions allowing for
state-of-art tag direction detection and stray tag filtering.
Optimum read performanceThe RFID performance of Nedap’s latest generation RFID readers is optimally balanced for the store
environment. With the state-of-the-art reader and (patented) antenna design, optimal read performance is
ensured, even in the reality of store by store differences and challenging situations.
For this, Nedap uses pre-defined roles for selected use cases with optimum parameter settings. The loss
prevention (EAS), stock room to sales floor and goods receiving roles each have their own optimized settings
that enhance the read performance in that specific role.
In a loss prevention role for example, the Nedap antennas are geared to filter out nearby tagged merchandise
and detect the direction of a single tag to make sure an alarm is only triggered when an unpaid item leaves the
store. In a stock room role however, the detection is optimized towards reliably reading a high volume of tags
(e.g. items in boxes, a cage or on a rolling rail) and accurately register the direction on the merchandise (e.g.
moving towards the sales floor).
Automatic Tag Filtering (ATF)
Tags close the system that might negatively influence
the system performance, are automatically temporarily
ignored. All focus of the RFID readers is then on the tags
you actually want to read.
!D GateFloor-mounted
The !D Gate is a modern, open pedestal that is mounted on the floor. The !D Gate can be assigned different
roles:
• Loss prevention (EAS)
• Stock room to sales floor movements
• Goods receiving
When used for loss prevention purposes, the !D Gate can be used with RF and/or RFID detection. Transitions
from one technology to the other are fast, hassle free and executed at the lowest costs as the existing
antennas and electronics stay in place. Optionally, the !D Gate can be equipped with integrated poster holders
and customer counting sensors.

!D TopWall- or ceiling-mounted
The !D Top is a powerful integrated RFID reader that can easily be mounted on the wall or to the ceiling -
almost invisibly. Its compact, clean design blends into every store, keeping the entrance of the store wide
open. The !D Top can be assigned different roles:
• Loss prevention (EAS)
• Stock room to sales floor movements
• Fitting room detection
Compared to other concealed systems, the detection performance of the !D Top is significantly better in
combination with easier and more cost-effective installation: no need to cut floors. The !D Top can be installed
above false ceilings, with VESA-mount or hanging on steel cables, which makes it easy to move it to another
location whenever the store design changes.

!D HandHandheld reader
The !D Hand is a fashionable, lightweight RFID handheld reader with one button operation, which allows
staff to check incoming goods, execute stocktaking and program new RFID labels. The !D Hand offers industry
standard RFID reading performance and is the perfect companion to the dedicated Fast Stock Taking app on
existing in-store mobile devices with Bluetooth connectivity. The !D Hand is ideally used for:
• Goods receiving and shipping
• Stock takes (stock room / sales floor)
• Programming RFID labels

!D POS(De-) Activator
The !D POS is an integrated RFID reader to be used for reading items at the point-of-sale station. It has a small,
rugged casing that can be mounted under the cash desk. The antenna only reads items on top of the reader,
while ignoring items below or next to the antenna, due to the built-in shielding. It can be connected via USB or
Ethernet, while the power can be supplied by a local power supply or PoE.
The !D POS can be used for:
• Read items at the POS
• In stand-alone mode it has the unique capabilities to:
• Deactivating RFID labels of sold items at the POS
• Activating RFID labels of returned items at the POS
• Activating (source tagged) labels in the stock room

Remote managementBecause RFID is a critical part in the process of the retailer, it is important that all systems are always
working with optimum performance. All fixed readers automatically report their status to the Nedap
Device Management system. This system reports exceptions within minutes and notifies the right people
to take action, within your organisation or a designated service partner. New features and bug-fixes can be
deployed overnight in automatic firmware updates.
Remote serviceNedap’s online remote service is paying off for retailers each and every day. Connected systems can be
monitored and serviced remotely - from anywhere in the world - ensuring the highest system uptime. As
much as 80% of all service calls are resolved remotely. This results in fewer service call outs which saves
precious time and money, not only in the cost of a technician visiting the store, but also in the response
time.
Worldwide networkNedap has an extensive network of business partners to serve the global retail market. We combine the
power of being local with global support. As all partners are certified and engineering staff continuously
trained, our high quality standards are assured across the globe. Nedap’s retail solution are sold and
services through our offices in the Netherlands, France, Germany, UK, Spain, US, China and Hong Kong and
our dedicated business partners in more than 100 countries.
