Social Media Psychology
Getting all Psychological Now
• One of the main reasons that people decide to connect with others on social media channels is to have a sense of belonging to a community.
• People react to content that touches them on an emotional and/or personal level. If you make sure to offer content that is arranged in a format that is easy to follow, presented clearly and logically and has personal elements, people will pay attention and will want to continue engaging.
• Using content that is relevant and has a personal feel to it is a very intelligent choice when it comes to your sharing your content. Be yourself!
4 Types of Online Sharers
Altruists: helpful, reliable, and thoughtful. Stay connected with email and pass along information in attachments and links or through their blog.
Careerists: intelligent web users who have been quick to see the immense value of social networking. Careerists use websites like LinkedIn and FaceBook to build professional profiles and relationships.
Hipsters: are young, popular, creative, and prefer the cutting edge of technology. They're less likely to email, opting for newer, quicker methods of communication, like text, Twitter or Skype message.
Boomerangs: share content for validation and reaction. Empowered with information, Boomerangs usesocial websites like Twitter and Facebook to post thoughtful questions and comments to engage other users.
