Digital Media Gallery Navigation features for

videos: Keyframe time slider – moving

the mouse through the slider bar changes the keyframes.

Video summary page – larger keyframes represents more important segments. Clicking on these frames starts the video playback from the beginning of that segment.

Teaching faculties can easily incorporate these files into their courses.

Digital Theses & Dissertations

Master and PhD students started to submit their theses and dissertations online from Sep 2003.

Theses & dissertations can be unrestricted or restricted (pending patent application).

Unrestricted – full text document will be available.

Restricted – only author/title will be available. Library hosts the server housing these

documents.

Electronic Services

E-reserve Circulation services Document delivery service InfoGate Proxy server Alert services E-requests to purchase new

materials

E-reserve Pilot project implemented in July 2002 with links to subscribed journals

articles. These links were listed in the reserve reading lists in LINC. From July 2003 e-reserve is mounted on IVLE. Includes both scanned documents and direct links to subscribed

journal articles. Access is restricted to students taking the course.

Circulation Services Prototype book return system that has

dual sorting functions: books on-hold and not on-hold System designed by library (launched in May

2002). Use 3M Digital Library Assistant for shelf

maintenance and inventory check (launched in May 2003).

Document Delivery Services

Web-based query system was launched in Dec 2002 to allow users to check the status of their requests.

InfoGate Federated search service: one search across

multiple databases. Includes indexes & abstracts, journal

publications, and library catalogs. Links from bibliographic citations to full-text

documents. Checks local holdings. Powered by ENCompass and LinkFinderPlus

from Endeavor.

InfoGate: Search ScreenSearch an entire collection, or any number of resources

from a collection or from different collections.

Search results are displayed separately for each database.

Links to Full-TextLinks to full text document, NUS Libraries holdings as well as other library catalogs.

Proxy Server Provide easy off-campus

access to the electronic resources.

Users are not required to configure proxy in their browsers.

Service began in March 2003 Use the proxy to monitor usage

of the electronic resources Future development: real time

warning to users who download excessively.

Alert Services Users receive automatic email alerts

when the library acquires items matching saved searches in LINC (by author, subject, keyword).

In future alert services will be extended to electronic journal articles using InfoGate.

E-Requests to Purchase New Materials

We have made arrangements with book vendors for our teaching staff to select books directly from their online catalogs.

Blackwell’s Collection Manager

Selected titles will be emailed to the library.

Kinokuniya Bookweb Pro

Library Portal The Library has just awarded a tender for

the implementation of a library portal. Use BEA WebLogic portal platform. Single sign-on facility. Personalization & customization. Push news, alerts to users according to their

profiles. Users can subscribe to various library services.
