Help Me Grow/Preschool Screenings
The Auglaize County
Health Department and
the Ohio Department of
Health Help Me Grow
program are offering
parents an opportunity to
have their children, ages
birth through 5 years old,
screened. Come talk to
experts to assure your
child is on track in the
areas of growth, vision,
hearing, foot and ankle,
language, motor skills and
behavior. If concerns are
identified, parents are
educated about the
services and resources
available so their child
can get help early and
start school healthy and
ready to learn.
Monday, September 12
3:30—6:00 p.m. (arrive
by 5:30 to complete all
screening stations)

On Wednesday, August 3, 2016
the Auglaize County ESC
welcomed principals,
superintendents, and other
administrators from schools in
Auglaize and Hardin Counties.
The morning session focused
on the hidden, yet growing,
problem of human trafficking
in Ohio. Gears shifted in the
second portion of the retreat as
Curriculum Director Kelli Tebbe
presented a compelling and self-
reflective training on Social and
Emotional
Intelligences.
Administrative Retreat
Beginning of the Year Staff In-Service
On Wednesday, August
10, 2016, the Auglaize
County ESC hosted its
annual staff in-service day.
It was a pleasure to
welcome Dr. Cathy
Hamilton. Her fresh and
authentic message of
student success helped to
energize administrators,
teachers, and staff alike.

As Opiate addiction and
subsequent heroin use
sweep across the nation,
suburban and small
town America are left
trying to make sense of
it and searching for
solutions.
In an hour long
presentation, Sam
Quinones will present
heroin’s path through
the heartland as it
moved through
Columbus and
Portsmouth, as well as a
glimpse into the lives of
individuals and families
affected by opiate
addiction. Following his
presentation a panel of
local officials will
explore the opiate
epidemic from a local
perspective. The panel
will discuss local
enforcement,
prosecution of drug
offenses and treatment
efforts. There will be an
opportunity to pose
questions to the panel.
