Creating Presentations

Inserting a New Slide •Click on Insert          New Slide. (Ctrl + M) •Move your arrow pointer over layouts or use the scroll bar and choose a slide layout.

OR•Click the New Slide button at the top of the screen •Move your arrow pointer over layouts or use the scroll bar and choose a design layout. •A gray bar appears on the right •Click the down-pointing arrow and choose Insert New Slide.

Inserting comments in a presentation:

In normal view, display the slide you want to add comments to. Select Insert, Comment. Type your comments into the yellow comments box and then click away. Move the comment box to your preferred position on the slide.

he text box. Type in the text you wish to appear in the te

xt box. Resize the text box if necessary using the w

hite resizing circles on each side and corner and format your text as appropriate.

To Copy and Paste: Select the text you want to copy. Click the copy button on the Standard Toolbar. (Ctrl + C) Move your mouse pointer to the location on the slide where you

want the text to appear. Click the paste button on the Standard Toolbar. (Ctrl +V)

To Cut and Paste: Select the text you want to cut. Click the cut button on the Standard Toolbar. (Ctrl + X ) Move your mouse pointer to the location on the slide where you

want the text to appear. Click the paste button on the Standard Toolbar. (Ctrl +V)

Grouping and Ungrouping Objects To Group Objects: Select the first object with your mouse. Press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard. Note: You will have to hold the

Ctrl key until you select all objects you would like to group. Select the second object with your mouse. Continue to select all the objects you would like to group. Release the Ctrl key. Using the Set Rehearsed Timings Feature To Rehearse and Save Timings: Select Slide Show Rehearse Timings from the main menu.

The slide show will appear in Slide Show view and a Rehearsal dialog box will appear in the top, left part of the screen.

Click the blue arrow in the Rehearsal dialog box to advance to the next slide. The timer will reset itself.

Inserting Sound Effects To Insert a Sound Effect: Select Insert Movies and Sounds from the main menu. Select the location of the sound clip:

In this example, select Sound from File. The Insert Sound dialog box will appear.

Locate the sound file on your computer. Select the file. Click OK. The Microsoft Office PowerPoint dialog box will appear

Adding Background Music from a CD To Add Background Music from a CD: Select the first slide where you want the music to play. Select Insert Movies and Sounds. Select Play CD Audio Track. The Insert CD Audio dialog box will appear. Verify that you have a CD in the CD drive of your computer. Select the track number to start playing. Select the track number where you want to end.

Packaging a Presentation for CD To Package a Presentation for CD: Select File Package for CD from the main menu. Enter a name for your CD. Click Add Files and follow the instructions to add any extra files to the CD that

you may need. If you link to files outside of your presentation, PowerPoint will automatically add those files.

Click Options.
