In Pavia, the stables of the Visconti Castle hosted the exhibition “Renoir. La vie en peinture”, which traces the sixty years of artistic career of the great French Impressionist. In fact, precisely because Renoir was artistically active for over half a century, is not totally correct to define it only as an impressionist painter. The more than five thousand works by Renoir, in their overwhelming amount, explain how the Renoir can not be considered an artist only a single current follower of painting. Devoted to the beauty, the joy of life, the triumph of the senses and vitality: these are the terms in which it could be identified Pierre Auguste Renoir, who said openly that his philosophy is expressive: “For me, a framework should be something pleasant, cheerful and beautiful, so beautiful! There are already too many unpleasant things in life that is not the case to create even the others”. The exhibition held in Pavia brings together a select and unique series of paintings and drawings by Renoir, some of which have never been exhibited in Italy, featuring works from galleries around the world, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, Columbus Museum of Art (Ohio) and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Of note is a series of still life works by the great Impressionist master.
