PhotographyThese are a selectionof the best photographs that I took…

PhotographyThis is one of the pictures I used…

I chose this picture because it worked best when used on my contents page, as it fitted with my page layout. Also, the picture is very clear and there would not be too many complications in terms of editing the photo. There are few shadows that need to be edited out and the people themselves reflect a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, which was the aim for my contents page.

I did not choose this picture because it has more shadows to edit out and the pose was more formal, which would’ve better suited a front page for example. The end of the guitar was also not in the shot, which could have resulted in am amateur looking picture…

PhotographyThis is another picture I used…

This photo was good because the lighting was effective in showing of the expressions of the stars. Shadows aren’t a problem in this photo aswell, and their pose fits nicely with the layout of my double-page spread.

This photo again had a lot of shadows to edit. As much of the original detail needs to remain if possible, so the less editing I needed to do then the better it would look in the magazine. However, the way they stand is quite good for a rock band…

Using the magic wand tool to outline the figures – this means I can cut out the

background without affecting the people.

Photoshop2

With only the background selected, I can use the paintbrush tool to make the background

white or another colour if needed…

After that I can smoothen some rough edges with the brush tool to make it look more

professional…

I then used the blur tool to further smoothen the edges, so they don’t appear as sharp and don’t look obviously edited. The more natural it looks

the better.
