• Johann Köler was a leader of the Estonian national awakening and a painter.

• He was known by his portaiture andby his landscape paintings.

• His most notable pictures depict the Estonian rural life in the second half of the 19th century.

Oleviste church

• Oleviste church is the highest building in Estonia and was so in Europe in the 1959

• Kristjan Jaak Peterson is considered the founder of modern Estonian poetry.

• One of the most outstanding achievements in Estonian literature is "Kalevipoeg".

• The most remarkable writers of the young generation are Andrus Kivirähk, Karl-Martin Sinijärv and Peeter Sauter.
