Some Research

• Who was Phil Goddard?

• What was he doing?

• Why Cancer Research?

Hi Tim

I mentioned your story on Facebook, and my next-door

neighbor said I should post this, which is from Mardi

Gras this year. I'm the flamingo, and Pam, the wife I

met on my walk, is the woman in blue.

Best wishes

Phil

If you haven’t

noticed..

We have all become connected

Even if we are not using the tools

http://harveyd.edublogs.org/files/2010/11/connected-teacher-e-284z2tm.jpg

Teachers won’t be replaced by technology.

They will be replaced by teachers that understand and

use it to their own and their student’s advantage.

The world, and

your students

are connected.

If you are not in

that space, then

you are not where

your students are

The days of relying on others for answers is over.

You have a moral obligation to

connect to other educators

There is no profession in the

world that works

totally in isolation.

There are a lot of

people out there

willing to share

How many of you have a website?

How many of you have an active website?

What do you use the website for?

Some Quick Reminders

• You do have something to share

• Follow those that can help you

• Seek out new life and new civilizations (Google

Translate)

• Many heads are better than one

• What is stopping you from using the tools?

Excuses I have heard over the

years:

I don’t have time

My plate is full

I have a life/family/sick parent/bad colon

My test scores are good, why should I?

They will get it somewhere else

I don’t have enough technology in my class/school

I haven’t had training

I have a FAMILY!

I don’t have internet at home

The kids know more than I do

Technology changes too fast to learn it

Excuses I have heard over the

years:

I am not getting paid to do that

Weekends belong to me!

I cant even figure out my iPhone

I have to have my grandson tell me how to use tech

I can’t even use the crap they give me already!

I will get to it in May

My principal doesn't like technology

It’s hard

I am too old to learn that stuff

I retire in three years

What if your students gave

you those exact same

excuses about doing work in

your class?

So, you can go it alone, maybe with a few friends...

OR YOU CAN INVITE

THE WORLD...
