• Back the origins;

• Cows poisoned;

• Employee contaminated neighboring farm;

• Daughter in the Adolfo Lutz (Telma) - Son Agronomist (Carlos)

• BHC and DDT against taxes by IBC w / drill;

Why Organic Coffee?

• - Climate and Topographical

• - Area and production

• - Location: isolated (own social and environmental)

• - Areas: coffee, banana, pasture and forests

• - Soil, Vegetation, Water, springs

• - Social: Agrovila, churches, health, leisure

• - Neighboring properties and their interrelationships • • - Systems Partnership

• Three simultaneous processes:

• - Production quality coffee;

• - Restoration and conservation;

• - Appreciation of the Social.

• + 70% cost spent on manpower.

HISTORY OF MANAGEMENT

• - Home, stands by conversion

• - CONV → SAT → ORGANIC

• - Crops yellow / experienced, lower production madness?

• - Large amounts of organic matter

• Environment balances, production normalizes

• - Use of Ajifer between 1995 and 1998: High Productivity

• - Remove bananas to plant coffee

• Since 1999, more rational management:

• - To be of use Ajifer

• - Planting of green manures

• - Increased recycling of nutrients in the system

• - Selective Clearing

• - Gathering with banana and its benefits

• - Agroforestry

Current Situation

Production

 • - Planting of coffee plantations: soil more fertile

• - When will maintain high fertility?

• - First plantings in areas of soil and plant banana = weakened;

• - Learning for maintenance of soil fertility: • - Trees • - Rational fertilization • - Use of banana trees and bush

Problems:

- Many old crop = Expensive for reform

- Reforms to the extent possible

- High cost for management and harvesting of crops with low productivity
