• Vic University-Central University of Catalonia came into being
on 30th January 2014, when the Balmes University
Foundation and the Bages University Foundation signed the
federal agreement.
• UVic-UCC has become a driver of knowledge and innovation,
which is at the service of its region, yet with a distinctively
international vocation at the same time.

Management Model
• The federal agreement establishes a framework for cooperation
which is based on self-management and on promoting projects of
common interest.
• It is a flexible and permeable university model with versatile
management bodies with high decision-making capacities.
• This structure creates synergies when it comes to deciding on the
educational courses, promoting research and transferring
knowledge, and when dealing with local economic and social
sectors.
The UVic-UCC is governed by the Balmes University Foundation,
the board of which is composed of representatives of public authorities,
businesses and social agents.

Central Catalonia. This master
strengthens the regional vocation of
UVic-UCC.

Learning (CIFC)

• The Faculty of Medicine is a strategic project that has the
support of the Catalan university and health care
networks.
• The degree programme has already been defined and
the Faculty could be ready for the 2017-2018 academic
year.
• The UVic-UCC Faculty of Medicine will be based on an
innovative pedagogical model with English as the
working language in order to encourage applications
from international students.
