PaGoRA - PArticipatory Governance Of Rivers Areas A replicable model from Santerno Resiliente

Institution / Organisation

29/11/2017

www.gipiesse.nethttps://www.facebook.com/gipiesse.net/

Gipiesse is the promoter of “Santerno Resiliente“, the participatory process that begins the route to the Santerno River Contract. This route addresses, in an integrated way, the issues of hydraulic safety, water quality and habitat, management and use of water resources and tourism. Partners of the project are about twenty among the Entities, Associations and Companies of the territory (including the Emilia-Romagna Region, Con.Ami Consortium, Vena del Gesso Park and the municipalities of Imola and Santerno River's valley).

Competences /expertise

29/11/2017

Integration: Hydraulic Safety, Water Quality and Habitats, Water Resources Management and Tourism Usability, issues faced in an integrated way;

Negotiation between Entities: Negotiation Table allows harmony in managing problems related to the government of the river area;

Participation: Starting point of collection of reports, proposals and projects of citizens, companies and associations of the territory

Partecipatory GIS: Project contributions are collected in an innovative WebGis computer platform: ConAmi's DATA project

SC5 Topic(s) of interest The governance of river territories. The

resilience of territories and river communities

Hydraulic safety, water quality and habitat, water and resource management, tourist accessibility. Integration is very difficult because of the multiple interests and the many competent Entities. The River Contract is the instrument for negotiating and defining interventions that could be compatible with each other and sustained in long therm. Participation is an essential tool for defining the real interests and the possible uses of the River and the valley.

29/11/2017

I am looking for…/ I offer…

Resources to continue the route of Santerno Resiliente

European Partners that are facing River Contracts or similar projects that want to open up to a comparison of experiences to identify best practices and effective methodologies for the governance of river territories.

SC5 Topic(s) of interest

29/11/2017

In situ and Earth Observation data show that

global sea level is rising faster than in

previous centuries and its rising rate has

accelerated in recent years, in coincidence

with the rise of global temperatures.

Global mean sea level is expected to

increase from 75 to 190 cm by

2100, representing among the most serious

impacts of climate change to face in the next

years. These values will be even larger in

subsiding coasts entailing widespread

environmental changes, coastal retreat,

marine flooding and loss of land.
