PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION: • To educate student leaders on how to enhance their

understanding and identification with the notion of professionalism and its importance both on and off campus.

Defining Professionalism

• How many definitions are there?• What factors create different views of professionalism?• How does your idea of professionalism differ from your

friends? Your family?• Provide online definitions of professionalism

Attire

• What is your idea of professional attire?• Show pictures of professional vs. unprofessional attire • (What Not to Wear – College Edition)

• Do not have to be business casual on campus…• Be mindful of expected attire in office, events, any place in which

guest speakers are present• Appropriate vs. inappropriate?

Professionalism on Campus

• What is your role on campus?• Discuss the “many hats” of a student leader

• Representative of the institution• Awareness of community (inclusivity)• Opportunities available on campus• Networking/making valuable connections

Once completed, have an open discussion about making sure everyone is held accountable, how to celebrate achievements, how to stay

focused and on track, and how to overcome barriers in reaching for goals.
