Pet Safety Tips for the

Sewing Room

Pets:Our faithful, loving companions!

Sewing Rooms:Our places for creativity, comfort,

contemplation & maybe our companions.

However……

It’s a jungle in there for pets as hidden dangers lurk around every corner!

We know the potential hazards for ourselves, but our pets don’t and it is up to us to provide a safe space for them!

Look around your sewing room. How many hazards can you spot?Check out all the dangers. Keep your pets safe!

Use the following pages as a guide!

Pins and Needles (usually found on the floor) and seam rippers can stick & cut pads on paws!

Threads and some with needles attached can be swallowed and cause real problems – even death!

Keep sharp blades and points out of reach!

Sewing Machines and Sergers can be fascinating for a cat as they watch the needles go up and down, but if a paw gets in the way – that is not good!

Fabric piles are a great place for a pet to sleep unless the pile consists of unfinished objects (UFO’s). Most include pins!

Hot irons can cause serious burns! Fusible web sheets, yarn and braid may cause gastric problems if eaten.

Beads, buttons, charms, rosettes, or any kind of small embellishment is not good to chew or swallow.

Just a few hazards are listed here.Look around your sewing room. There may be more.Make changes if necessary.Be safe, not sorry!Create a safe place for your pets. You will be glad & so will your pets!
