Rainforest Life Guess-It Game!

By: Mrs. Peirce’s Fourth Grade

Directions:• Each student will read hints that will help

you guess their plant or animal.

• After the student is finished reading their hints, raise your hand to guess.

• Once you are called on, share your answer.

• The correct answer will be displayed.

Kylie Kazen• It has a very colorful and strong beak.

• They are very noisy and they make all kinds of sounds.

• They sleep at the bottom of a tight hole in a tree.

TOUCAN

Jordan Arroyo• They are intelligent, social birds that often

gather in flocks of 10 or 30 individuals

• They not only breed, but also share food with their mates and enjoy mutual grooming

• There are 17 species of them and several are endangered

Macaw

• It is a small plant.

• It looks like a rosette (little rose) with 4-7 leaves, but it can have more than 7 leaves.

• It can reach a maximum size of 3-10 centimeters.

Venus Fly Trap

Luis Estrella• It is a large reptile that has a long,

heavy body.

• It can grow up to 18.5 feet.

• It could weigh up to 27 kg (60 pounds).

Boa Constrictor

• It is one of the biggest butterflies seen.

• Their wingspan measures 5/8 inch in width.

• The adults are often seen living in shrubs.

Blue Morpho Butterfly

Bryce Camara• Insects are their main prey but they also eat

frogs, toads and mice. • They’re burrowers and typically live on land.• Females guard their eggs in a cocoon.• Their large bodies can be 4.75 inches long.• They can weigh as much as 3 ounces.• They live 30 years in the wild.• They don’t have good eye sight, even

though they have 8 eyes.

Tarantula

Summa Slater• My animal has a red-brown colored coat of

fur with white stripes on the top of their legs.

• They are very shy and secretive, so much that they were not recognized as a species until the 20th century.

• They are most active during the day.

• They are herbivores.

Okapi

Kenneth Robitaille• It is grey with black hands and feet and a

brown tail.

• It also has a white beard.

• It is most active during the day and rests in the safety of the tree tops during the night.

• It eats both plants and animals.

Emperor Tamarin

Sadie West• Males stake out their territories on rocks

near a stream.

• They feed on a many different small invertebrates in the forests near their streams.

• Babies are left to fend for themselves. Large numbers die before reaching adulthood.

Golden Frog

Noah Pacheco• They can weigh up to 20 pounds.• They can be found in Brazil, Paraguay,

Mexico, the Caribbean islands and some parts of the United States.

• Their color helps camouflage them when hiding from larger predators.

• They have a third eye on their head, which is used to control hormone production.

Iguana

Michael Silvestro• They are nocturnal predators and feed

mainly on insects.

• They are not very fast, but they are great climbers and are able to hang from branches by their feet alone.

• They are covered with short, thick woolly fur.

Lesser Slow Loris

Heaven Jeffers• They are bright colors like yellow, orange,

red, green and blue.

• They have enough poison in their skin to kill 20,000 mice.

• They live for about ten years.

Poison Dart Frog

Elionei Mendes• They have eight legs.

• They can quickly grab an insect with their pincers and use their tail to sting their prey.

• They use their poison to kill prey and to defend themselves from predators.

Scorpion

Natalya Sloan• It is seven feet long.

• It weighs 40 to 100 pounds.

• It eats ripe fruit.

Giant Anteater

Ethan Coutinho• They are found mainly in the forests of

Central America.

• Its also the national bird of Guatemala and they named their currency after the bird.

• It’s an endangered species.

Quetzal

Aubree Davis• It can hang from a branch by one hind

foot.

• It is the only cat to possess the ability to rotate its hind legs 180 degrees.

• In captivity they have lived up to 20 years.

Margay

Dominic Rego• It is a carnivore.

• It’s jaws are very powerful.

• It can pull a 800 pound bull.

• This animal is an apex predator.

Jaguar

Arianna Teixeira• It is a large, carnivorous cat of African

and Asian forests usually having a tawny coat with black spots.

• It has short legs and a long body with a large skull.

• They are carnivores eating monkeys, hoofed animals like antelopes and impala, reptiles and rodents.

Leopard

Dominick Sardinha• It’s body can be 28 to 38 inches long, and it’s tail

10 to 14 inches long. • It can weigh 20 to 22 pounds.• It has small ears. • It has sharp, curved claws on padded feet. • It’s belly is reddish-brown and white. • It has a pointed snout. • They have a dark band that runs along their

back and tail.

Zorro

Derek Perry• They live in Africa.

• They are related to chimpanzees and humans.

• They are herbivores. They spend most of their day looking for food and eating bamboo. Adults can eat up to 30 kilograms of food each day.

Gorilla

Cedric Wongus• They are a mascot for a professional

football team.• Females give birth to litters of two to six

cubs, which they raise with little or no help from the male.

• They are a mammal.• They are a carnivore. • Their lifespan in the wild is 8 to 10 years• They are endangered.
