Brief Note on all Updates

• Panda Algorithm:In this algorithm the changes aimed to lower the rank of "low-quality sites" or "thin sites", and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search results.

Penguin Algorithm

Penguin Update to better catch sites deemed to be spamming its search results, in particular those doing so by buying links or obtaining them through link networks designed primarily to boost Google rankings.Main goal is to reduce the trust that Google has in sites that have cheated by creating unnatural backlinks.

Hummingbird Algorithm

Hummingbird is about synonyms but also about context.Google said that Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query, ensuring that the whole query the whole conversation or meaning is taken into account, rather than particular words. The goal is that pages matching the meaning do better, rather than pages matching just a few words.

Pigeon Algorithm

The update is aimed to increase the ranking of local listing in a search.Claim and optimise your local business listing in Google Maps, Google Places for Business and Google Plus. RankBrain Algorithm

RankBrain is Google’s name for a machine-learning AI system which is part of its overall search algorithm. Its primary use is to sort through billions of search webpages to return the best results for its user’s search queries.

Payday Update

Google announced removing high spammy results by punishing those sites that were part of payday loans, casinos, porn, gambling, and anything of poor quality.

Pirate Update

It’s essentially a filter designed to catch sites with repeated copyright violations. Finally, the update will also reveal new ad formats, directing users towards original content rather than pirated content.
