RCS live. The new revenue stream for carriers.

Act NOW!

Rich Communication 2010. 17/Nov/2010 Juan Mateu

Thinking in markets and positioning

Ford Ferrari

Zara Channel

Ummmhhh ?-)

Got the point ?

YES !!!

Henry Ford make feasible the “driving experience”

for the masses

Amancio Ortega make affordable the fashion clothes to the masses

While others (Ferrari & Channel) were focused in

delivering the “best” only to a few

…historically Ford and Zara (Inditex) made more

revenues and earnings

Taking care of

“the most”

And had a role transformating the world &

improving the lifestyle

With millions of customers and 100%

penetration

Carriers must take care of “the most”

Delight the masses

And it will be monetized

when got the customers in love

again with carriers

Go back to our problem

Communications ?

A real need,

Make life easier

Not for everybody :-(

People with access to

rich devices

People can’t

affordvs

People able to learn

the use

vs

People can’t learn complex services

How to do it?

APPS ?????

1 App 1 CASE

Means Nightmare

Few devices can store 1000 apps

Very few want to install and learn

1000 apps

And also, apps are controled by device supplier

My god !!!

could the issue be solved?

Let’s try !

think

The past…

Uuummmhh ?-)

Do you remember the SMS story ?

1 thing to learn

Lots of things could be done

•Text people•Send opinion to TV•Vote•Buy a ringtone•Receive alerts

One thing to be learnt

Lots of things to be done

Same way to communicate with people and with

services

Everybody learnt it

Everybody used it

And it really matters now ?

YES

Now, rich and multidevice

mobility

RCS combining known features

from OTTs

Instant MessagingPresence

File TransferVideoShare

What else is needed for RCS case?

Ubiquity, access from different devices

covering all screens and device tiers

Openness, easy to create use cases on

top -> APIs

Then…ONLY 1 APP

The phonebook

Also 1 experience to learn, 1000 use cases

to user ?

YES

WOW

And then …

Could be successfull as

SMS?

YES, if “open” as SMS

Simple & powerful & for everybody

And about us, Solaiemes ?

Solaiemes is working on that

regarding RCS openness, the platform to create

use cases on top

RCS Solution Gateway

Opening RCS access with API’s as it was done with SMS in the past

RCS Solution Gateway

Solaiemes aims to use RCS as a common framework to create user-IT-system easy interaction being the IT System 3rd parties:

- CRM platform- Social Media sites (for UGC or receiving updates) - Mobile Advertisment engine.- Alternative “way of access” to use popular web tools

…and regarding RCS ubiquity, the platform to

put easily RCS in all screens

RCS Thin/Web Client Server

How to do RCS the ubiquitious carrier communicator?

Combining “Cloud Communication” with javascript customized user

interfaces !!!

RCS Thin/Web Client Server

• For devices with no full computing capabilities (TV, STB) or for having access to RCS trough Web Browser it is needed a way to split the RCS client in 2 sides:

1. Server side hosting the Telco protocol (SIP, MSRP, XDM, etc) cloud based in a shared platform

2. Web GUI or TV/STB widget based on javascript, to create the user experience without the need of installing apps or clients.

• Different “look & feel” RCS “iframes” can be provided on demand. Flexibility.

• It mades RCS as a pure ubiquitous communicator

Summarizing

Is RCS real?

YES !!!

Is it coming soon ?

The technology works, carriers should deploy :-)

Last chance of carriers

To keep a role

A good opportunity for

ecosystem

Extra fee above flat rate for data is the

only possible revenue?

NO !!!

Which more then?

Selling & provisionating “service user” SIP

URI’s…Addressing the long tail

Hosting the “on top of RCS” services and the

API access

“premium usernames” for solution

developers…as news@carrier.com …

Revenue sharing for “on top of RCS” paying

solutions as in the past the SMS premium

Cloud private storage of personal RCS communications

Dedicated support and services to high

transaction “service users” as banks

And sure…someone will find additional revenue

streams

WOW, a huge opportunity for carriers then.

YES, but carriers may act, launch NOW!!

….and launch RCS ubiquitous and open from the beginning...

That’s the Value

Time is Gold
