Phonics Guidance

Each week in phonics, we have one session where we focus on tricky words.Phase 2 – to go no I the into Phase 3 – me be we he she you are all they my was her

Tricky word reading and spelling should be regularly practised on the Spelling Shed app and each child should have received their Spelling Shed log in. These can be found either on the front cover of their reading records.

I have been updating the Spelling shed weekly and new assignments will appear on Monday.

Phonics Activity

This week we are learning to build cvc words, ccvc words and cvcc words using the letters we already know.(See phonics guidance sheet in Home learning pack).Activity 1: Play on Hairy Letters on your tablet (free to download)

Activity 2: Play Phonics frisby – on a paper plate add the following words around the rim. CVC words – hop, bed, sat, zip, cap, wet, fox, log, van,CVCC words – lock, jump, past, went, felt, nest, mend, tentThen pass it and the person who catches it reads the word that their finger lands on when they catch it.

Activity3: On the next page match the words to the pictures in the ‘I spy’ game.

Activity 4: Revise all phonics learned to far, write a word for each sound using sound mats in the front of homework books.

Maths Activity – Number 11 - 15

This week we are focusing on the numbers 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Each day focus on a new number.There are some number blocks episodes to watch to help with these numbers

fifteenOn the next slides there is a page for each number. Please use this as a guide to help you make each number in different ways. You could make a collection of different objects around your home, paper clips, cotton buds, buttons, pencils, pennies etc.

Can your child count up to and back form that number?Can you make each number by adding two numbers 6 + 5 = 11?Can you find/draw a domino that has the correct number of spots?Can you draw a ladybird with each number of spots?Can you do some exercises 11 jumps, 12 hops, 13 star jumps, 14 claps, 15 skips using a skipping rope?
