SAVINDANCELEBRATION-ANOTHERBIGSUCCESSOurparish’sannualSavindanCelebration,honoringourPatronSaint,SvetiSava,wasanotherhugesuccessthankstosomanyofourparishionersandtheirchildren.OnSaturdaymembersofLoyalOrder,alongwithothervolunteers,setupthegymwithcloseto50tablesand600chairs,andmanyofourSundaySchoolchildrenweretheretohelpputtablecloths,silverwareandotheritemsonthetables.

Sunday’sfestivitiesbeganwithacombinedDivineLiturgycelebratedbyhisGraceBishopLongin,withresponsessungbythejoinedchoirsofStevanSijackiandourLiturgicalsingers,culminatinginthetraditionalbanquetandprogramfeaturingchildrenfromourChurchSchool

program,St.SavaOrthodoxSchoolandSumadija.Asalways,theeventwasmadepossibleandtrulyspecialbyallthosewhohelped–fromthesetuponSaturdaytoSunday’sfestivities.SpecialthanksgotoDaraSeverandherkitchenstaffwhoplanned,shoppedforandpreparedthewonderfulmeal;DianeMarkovinaforherorganizationofthebanquetandprogram;StevePetrovichandCedoKabicfortheirexcellentworkonthesoundsystem;theParochialSchool

PTOfordecoratingthetables,andalltheothergenerousfolkstoonumeroustomention.Wealsomustthanktheteachers,studentsofbothschoolsanddirectorsand

dancersofSumadija.Onceagainwewereamazedathowquicklythehallwascleanedup,thetablesandchairsputaway,bothkitchenscleaned-allwithinanhouroftheendoftheprogram.Thespiritinwhichsomanyofyouhelpedwastrulysomethingwonderfultoexperience.

Wealsooweadebtofgratitudetoourdomacin,ZoranandValentinaVrankovic-whowereamongthefirsttoarriveandthelasttoleave-makingsureallpreparationsandclean-upwerecomplete.Theywerealsokindandgenerousenoughtopurchasethechildren’sgift—200iconsofSt.Sava.Wehonorallofyouforyourvolunteerismandloveofourchurch.Weareablessedcongregationbecauseofourpeople–you,yourfamilyandyourreverenceandrespectforourHolyOrthodoxFaith.ItwastrulyaneventwhichbroughtglorytoGodandhonortoSt.Sava!
