OUR IMPACT WORKOur 4 Impact Area partnership, action, and work-
ing groups are; Children and Families, Youth, Family Safety and Economic Participation. These work areas have been chosen by many members of the Central Goldfields community; your friends and family, your neighbours, your teachers, your nurses, your Police,
your employers, and your customers.
WHO WE WORK WITHMore than 100 people across 5 groups,
representing the voices of 1000’s, work together in the Go Goldfields initiative. We bring people
and organisations together to deliver lasting and meaningful achievements with our community.
We plan for long-term social change with a focus on creating the best environments for our children,
youth and families.
GO GOLDFIELDS IS A LOCAL INITIATIVE CREATED BY COMMUNITY, FOR COMMUNITY
Our collaborative approach empowers local people, service providers, business and decision- makers to work together to improve the lives of children, youth and families. ‘Our community
aspiring, achieving and living a full life’: is the vision that drives us towards a positive future.

This ‘Report to Community’ is a snap-shot of what we are doing to turn our vision into a reality.

How do we achieve our aspiration that: “All children in our community are
confident, creative, safe and healthy”?
WHAT WE WANT:Families and children have positive and
supportive family environments.
Improved access to and awareness of service systems.
Families and children attend community activities.
WHAT WE ARE DOING:Advocating for increased attendance at kindergarten and primary school.
Advocating for increased 2-year key age and stage visits to Maternal Child Health.
Early Years Forum.
Annual Teddy Bears Picnic.
‘The Nest’ Parents Group.
‘Build Your Village Here’ Parents Directory website.
Convening and strengthening the Go Goldfields Children and Families Partnership with Best Start.
How do we achieve our aspiration that: “Our community celebrates our young
people as they reach their full potential”?
WHAT WE WANT:Young people feel healthy, safe, valued, equal,
connected and able to express their aspirations.
Young people have their wellbeing needs met.
Young people are valued community members, who are respected and respect others.
WHAT WE ARE DOING:Advocating to increase opportunities
for leadership.
Trialing a Pop Up Youth Hub for Youth Services.
Facilitating a Business Case for a Youth Hub.
Exploring an outcomes-based funding model to address the high vulnerability of
15-24 year-olds with complex needs.
Convening and strengthening the Youth Services Alliance (YES) Partnership.
How do we achieve our aspiration that: “Everyone can learn, earn, achieve
and dream”?
WHAT WE WANT:Work readiness programs are aligned
with employer needs.
Employers understand diverse needs, and barriers to employment.
Improved opportunities for volunteering and work placements that reflect the current and future
needs of business and industry.
WHAT WE ARE DOING:Advocating for increased mentoring and
support for job seekers.
Building employer understanding of employees with diverse needs.
Volunteer and Careers Expo.
Working with large employers to offer internship and mentoring placements.
Convening and strengthening the Go Goldfields Employment, Education and Training Action Group.
How do we achieve our aspiration that: “Everyone lives equally and safely in
our community”?
WHAT WE WANT:Community is safe and free from violence.
Community is actively leading change.
Women are engaged in leadership and public life.
Women are treated equally and are safe and valued.
Family violence support services are visible, accessible and responsive.
WHAT WE ARE DOING:Developing a Gender Equity Framework.
Delivering Family Violence and Behavioural Change Forums.
Delivering Changing Our Story and Champions of Change projects, and 16 Days
of Activism campaign and events.
Developing a local Women’s Network.
Convening and strengthening the Go Goldfields Family Violence Action Partnership.

Go Goldfields, and the Central Goldfields Shire acknowledges the Dja Dja Wurrung people as the traditional custodians of this land.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?You are already working towards a better future.
Every day that we get up and we look after ourselves and others, we are doing it.
You can also help by; participating in the common goals shared in this report, by spending time at
parents groups, by bringing the children to kindergarten and school, by accessing services
that will help your household, and by talking to us about the change that you would like to see.
