Great job, PCFUMC, being flexible and understanding during the recent work done to the Beacon. Six weeks wasn’t that long was it? Some of us had just gotten the hang of Wide Open a bit later or Traditional worship early. Some never quite got used to it and are glad to
re-enter a normal space or time to worship. Displacement is never easy, but you all navigated it with such positive outlooks and grace. Thank you!
We do need to remember that the Beacon is not gonna be that couch that never gets sat on, though. Later this week, kids from our daycare and Day Camp will christen that floor with laughter and playing. Worship will begin on February 16. We’ll be eating poppyseed chicken in there on the 19th. Cub Scouts will be running Pinewood Derby cars in there on the 22nd, the Tablescapes fundraiser for Lakeside Hospice and the Christian Love Pantry will take it over on the 29th, and Julie Gaston will start teaching some of us old dogs the new trick of Pickleball on March 3rd. The Beacon will indeed be lighting up downtown Pell City!
I hope you have heard some inspiration during our emphasizing being “Under One Roof.” At our best, we really are one body, united by the same savior, living into this identity: “A Community of Believers Seeking to Transform Lives through Jesus Christ.” Last Sunday, one of our Traditional folks saw a couple from the community at breakfast and thought the Wide Open service was right up their alley. Instead of just thinking it, though, he invited them to worship with us. Guess what? They came...and worshiped their hearts out. When greeted on the way out, they were heard saying that they would surely be back. One Church with one (or many roofs) but One Lord can lead straight to transformation through Jesus. Thanks be to God!
—Pastor Byron
To my caring church family:
We thank you all for the prayers, cards, visits
by Ava, the delicious food brought to the house
by Annette Cox & Beth Jones, and by other
friends. And to Byron for the graveside service
and all our other friends that continue to support us as we
recover from Ann’s passing away. But be joyful that she is
with the Lord in his house! God bless you all!
—Thank you so much!

Upcoming Wednesday night Small Group Series
“Us for Them”
A 4-week series on loving others
Don’t you just love a little friendly competition?
There’s something about being a part of a team
that makes you excited to root for “us” and root
against “them.” With people and with God,
we’re often quick to see others like our enemies,
but God invites us to see things differently.
In this 4-week series, we’ll explore the stories of
Abraham, Jeremiah, Jonah, Isaiah, and more,
as we see how the big story of Scripture reveals
that God is for us, we’re called to be for others,
God is for our enemies, and Jesus proves that
God is for us.
