3 Electrical installationInstallation instructions
Revision – DRC..-DBC, DRC..-DAC, DRC..-DSC, DRC..-SNI8
3 Electrical installation3.1 Installation instructions3.1.1 UL-compliant installation (DRC1/2 only)
INFORMATIONDue to UL requirements, the following chapter is always printed in English independ-ent of the language of the publication.
Power terminals
Observe the following notes for UL-compliant installation:• Use 75 °C copper wire only.• DRC1/2 uses cage clamp terminals
Short circuit current rating
Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 200,000 rms symmet-rical amperes when protected by 600 V non-semiconductor fuses or 500 V minimuminverse time circuit breakers.• DRC1/2, the max. voltage is limited to 500 V. Suitable for motor group installation on a circuit capable of delivering not more than5,000 rms symmetrical amperes when protected by maximum 40 A, 600 V non-semi-conductor fuses or 500 V minimum 40 A maximum inverse time circuit breaker with aninterrupting rating of 5 kA minimum.• DRC1/2, the max. voltage is limited to 500 V.
Branch circuit protection
Integral solid state short circuit protection does not provide branch circuit protection.Branch circuit protection must be provided in accordance with the National ElectricalCode and any additional local codes. The table below list the permitted maximum branch circuit protection:
Series Non-semiconductor fuses
Inverse time circuit breakers
DRC1/2 40 A / 600 V 500 V minimum / 40 A maximum

Motor overload protection
DRC1/2 is provided with load and speed-sensitive overload protection and thermalmemory retention upon shutdown or power loss. The trip current is adjusted to 150% of the rated motor current.
Ambient temperature
DRC1/2 is suitable for an ambient temperature of 40 °C, max. 60 °C with derated out-put current. To determine the output current rating at temperatures above 40 °C, theoutput current should be derated by 3.0% per K between 40 °C and 60 °C.
Wiring diagrams
For wiring diagrams, refer to chapter "Electrical installation".

4 StartupLifting applications
Revision – DRC..-DBC, DRC..-DAC, DRC..-DSC, DRC..-SNI10
4 Startup4.1 Lifting applications
WARNINGDanger of fatal injury if the hoist falls.
Severe or fatal injuries.
• The DRC.. drive unit is not designed for use as a safety device in lifting applica-tions.
• Use monitoring systems and mechanical protection devices to ensure safety.
• In combination with lifting applications and "functional safety", the control must becarried out according to SS1(c) (Safe stop 1, function variant c according toEN 61800-5-2). Observe the "DRC.. electronic motor – functional safety" manual.
