Guidelines for attending Mass:
If you are healthy, go to Mass to hear God’s Word with your brothers and sisters in the faith and receive the Lord
Jesus in the Eucharist. But if you fear that going to Mass could be dangerous to you or others, remember that
the obligation to go to Sunday Mass remains suspended.
You MUST wear a mask during the entire Mass, only briefly adjusting to receive Communion.
You will be directed to fill the church from the front to the back, and be excused from Mass from the back to the front.
Everyone please process up for communion. If you choose not to receive, simply cross your arms across your body. This prevents others from climbing over you as they move through the pew.
After receiving Communion, please step to the side (6 ft away from Fr, place is marked) before lifting mask to consume the Holy Eucharist.
Maintain a 6ft distance from others, when entering, during and when leaving Mass.
Hand sanitizer will be applied to your hands upon entering and leaving the church.
Please do not linger, congregate in the back of the church, or parking lot before or after Mass.
Please be patient and kind. This is new for everyone and our volunteers are trying to keep everyone safe.
Still not sure what to do?? Check out this video on www.dwc.org

Fr Sebastian Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to
follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our
Eternal Priest.
Amen.
Warm greeting Sacred Heart Families,
This weekend we celebrate Priesthood Sunday. It is a day for us to honor the holy vocation of the Priesthood.
As I look back with fondness over my spiritual journey, I am very grateful for the many holy priests
instrumental in forming me as a Christian and as a priest: the priest that baptized me, administered my first
Holy Communion, confirmed me, formed me in the seminary, my spiritual directors, my confessors and the
Bishop that ordained me. Each one contributed something incredibly special to my formation leaving an
indelible mark upon me.
As the priest for both Sacred Heart Bluefield and Princeton, I am grateful to be among you. I thank you all for
your love and support especially during this difficult time of pandemic. Let us also recognize and thank each
one of our faithful parish priests who have administered the sacraments throughout the years to the wonderful
people of Bluefield and Princeton. May God bless them all!
Upon reflection, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge what a beautiful inspiration the Blessed Mother
has been in my life, both personally and in my priestly ministry. In my culture and in my family home, it is
our tradition to recite the rosary every night. It is a practice I continue even today. It is with great love and
devotion that I encourage each of you to join me starting Thursday, October 1st in praying the rosary everyday
for the entire month of October, which is designated the month of the Holy Rosary.
Our Lady to the Blessed Alan la Roche proclaimed, “When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the
Blessed Trinity delights in it, my Son finds joy in it too, and I myself am happier than you can possibly guess.
After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary.”
On this Priesthood Sunday, let us offer up to the Blessed Virgin Mary all the priests around the world and
those being called to the priestly vocation. May we be blessed with the divine grace, guidance, wisdom and
tenderness of our Holy Mother today and everyday.
Yours in Christ,
Father Sebastian

Faith Formation 2020—2021
I received from the Lord what I handed on to you.
The 2020 Catechetical Sunday theme is taken from St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, “I Received from the
Lord what I also Handed on to You.” The theme focuses on the primary substance of catechesis, which is an
invitation to a whole new life given by Christ Himself. It emphasizes that living faith necessitates movement,
inspiring all those who hear the Word to share it as witnesses of the true and living God. Sacred Heart will celebrate
Catechetical Sunday on October 4, 2020. Those who the Church Community has designated to serve as catechists
will have their names called out during Mass. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves
to this mission as a community of faith. Though our Faith Formation will be handled differently this year by zoom
meetings, please keep all in prayer as we navigate through this time until we can return to the school building again.
The RCIA Team is seeking individuals interested in joining the Catholic faith. Come on a journey with us to
Catholicism. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process for welcoming new members. Our next
session will be Monday, September 28 at 5pm in the school building. It will be held in our large classroom. Social
distancing and wearing a facial covering will be observed. If you know someone who may want to start the process
this fall, please give their name to Claire Lampert at 304-921-2455 or Julia Harrison at 304-327-5623.
Congratulations to Rick Wyatt for receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy
Eucharist on Saturday, September 26. Sacred Heart welcomes you and we wish you the best on your faith
journey in Christ!
Your continued support of our Sacred Heart Food Pantry is greatly appreciated!
Once again, our food pantry has been the recipient of The Community Foundation of the Virginia’s generosity. We applied for and received a grant to help with food expenses.
This grant is much needed and appreciated since our fund raisers, Sabika Bingo and the Yard Sale were cancelled due to Covid-19. What a blessing the Foundation has been to our pantry and our community.
LET US GIVE THANKS!
