Test the park brakeSelect the Park switch

Hook up the basket with the IT hitch and make sure that it is properly engaged.

The lock pin must be clearly visible from the outside of the hitch plate.

Test that the basket has been properly attached.

Rest it on the ground and select reverse gear

Move back a little – if the basket follows then it is properly attached

Check the fall arrest harness before entering the man basket

Get into the basket when it is on the ground

Maximum of three workers allowed in the man basket

Make sure the door is properly closed

Attach the lanyard to the anchor point

The adjustable lanyard must be long enough to stop you falling out of the man basket

Make sure that you are wearing the full PPE for working in the man basket

The IT operator must remain at the controls all the time and keep the motor running

Keep the basket tidy. Remember that a neat work place is a safe workplace.

The man basket must always be lowered to eye level when moving around the workplace

Unsafe behaviour : work from the floor of the man basket and never climb on to the rails.

Analyse the hazards : Do not have any pipes or other objects that protrude from the man basket.

Do not use the man basket to carry heavy loads such as materials and equipment

THE MAN BASKETWhen the basket is lowered to the ground it must always be at least 1.5m from the wall.

THE MAN BASKETKeep the area under the basket clear. No one is allowed under the raised basket. Ever.

THE MAN BASKETBe careful when working on corners. There are blind spots and reduced visibility. Use a spotter if required.

Crew may not stay in the man basket when travelling from one workplace to another.

Be aware of bad ground conditions. Moving over uneven surfaces may cause the man basket to sway and cause injury
