Salford Pathfinder Health & Wellbeing (HWB) Board

Current situation

• A Health and Well Being Board has been in place in Salford since 2007

• It has focused on: improving performance, developing the joint strategic needs assessment (JSNA) and built on strong partnerships in health and social care

• It has also addressed health improvement, prevention and lifestyle with key target areas including smoking, alcohol, obesity, mental well being, sexual health/teenage pregnancy

• Shadow HWB Boards by April 2012

• HWB Board in place April 2013;

The role of the Health & Wellbeing Board• To assess the needs of the local population (JSNA).• To promote integration and partnership through promoting

joined–up commissioning plans • To support joint commissioning and pooled budget

arrangements, • To work with overview and scrutiny committees to review

major service redesigns of health and wellbeing services • To provide a governance structure for local planning and

accountability of health and wellbeing related services.
