Sand (Tree soil) 1 is mostly used for landscap-ing. The most suitable plants will be shrubs and ever- greens such as lavenders, Russian sage, giant allium, hibiscus, mimosas, eucalyptus.

Characteristics

Tree soil is a sub-classification of sand soil - pre- dominantly composed of sand, and low levels of silt (>10%) and clay (1%).

Tree soils are characterized by grain sizes of 0.05 to 2mm, mostly composed of sand, low to medium fertility, medium to fast drainage rates, tending to hold fewer nutrients.
