Invisible Man• Get a SB book and tear out p. 27-30

• Individually read and annotate the prologue from Invisible Man. Specifically, mark the text for images and their effects.

After Reading1. The prologue contains images that represent Ellison’s multiple and conflicting

ideas of self. Choose 2-3 significant images, and sketch a visual for each. Label each sketch. Do this on the same paper as your warm-up!!

2. Use the model on p. 28 of SB to describe your perception of self. Use an abstract noun and explain it!!

3. Turn in: SB p. 27-28 stapled on top of your notebook paper!

Punctuation – what is it good for?
