From the Pastor’s Column / Noticias del Párroco We are preparing to create a new Photo Directory for the parish. As part of this process, we need every parish fam-ily to verify that their information is correct. There are two ways to do this: 1. Visit http://bit.ly/SCBUpdate to enter your infor-
mation online. The form is available in both English and Spanish. 2. Fill out the form below and return it to us.
We are asking every parish family to do this. If you do not update your information either online or using the form below, a member of the directory team will be calling you to verify your information. Please help them by updating your information yourself.

Parish-Owners, not Parishioners “Do we have enough volunteers at Borromeo?” “How can we get more people involved?” These are really the wrong questions for our Church Family. Through our Baptismal Vows, which we recommitted on Easter Sunday, we became full-fledged beloved daughters and sons of God– sisters and brothers to all. We are full members of God’s family– not volunteers. Every member of any family is important and has to do their share. We are Parish-owners-not merely a customer shopping around for the best deal on shortest Mass.
I’m An Owner:
♦ Mass will be prayerfully life-giving if I am. ♦ Borromeo will warmly welcome...if I do. ♦ Borromeo will grow spiritually...if I do. ♦ Borromeo will generously support anyone in need…..if I do. ♦ Borromeo will bring others to Jesus....if I do. ♦ Borromeo will participate in all events…..if I do. I thank you and Jesus Christ for making our Borromeo Church Family so vibrant, caring, witnessing, nourishing, pray-ing, trusting, supportive, joyful, united in solidarity with all God’s Children– because you are! We together are the living Body, Hands, Heart, and Face of Jesus.
We are looking for an additional member to serve on our St. Charles Borromeo School Board. If you would be interested in serv-ing the school and parish community in this way call the school at 636.946.2713. Let us know if you are interested, so that you can fill out an application. All applications must be in by April 1st. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your donation of 518 items on January 29th to our pantry. In these cold winter months when our clients are paying high utility bills and trying to make ends meet, your generous dona-tion makes such a difference in their lives. To know they will have nutritious meals to put on their table gives such peace of mind. Our clients are in such need, but knowing we can count on you make our job so much easier. So again, we say THANK YOU for your generous spirit. We wish you could see for yourselves the impact that your gen-erosity has on our clients. Sincerely, Your Friends at FISH

The 1st St. Charles Rosary River 5K run/walk is seeking donations to help support our inaugural year! This family-friendly, faith filled event will be held down on the St Charles riverfront in Frontier Park on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Participants may run or walk the 5K route or simply join in by collectively praying the devotion to the rosary in our “Magnificat” section along the way. In addition, the day’s proceeds will help honor SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Chil-dren’s Hospital, the only free-standing Catholic pediatric hospital in the country. Each year in June, the St. Louis Archdiocese collectively donates to the Children’s Fund which helps support the immediate and ongoing needs of the hospital. All parishes in the St. Charles area are invited to attend and support this day’s devotion to fitness and faith! As we kick off our first year, we are asking for donations to help create our trail’s very own rosary course. Dona-tions over $150 will receive a sign posted along the route to represent a Hail Mary. Our goal is to get enough sponsors to represent a full rosary. Thank you in advance, for considering to support this unique public celebration of the joy of the rosary. We hope you will join us on June 9th for a morning of faith and exercise! Please feel free to contact me (Tammy Buehler) with any further questions at 314-691-1774 or tcbuehler@hotmail.com.

Your Loving Sacrifices Make All The Difference
April 1, 2018 Easter Sunday
Today as we celebrate the feast of
Easter, we find the challenge of also seeing and believing the resurrection
that comes through our own lives of self-sacrifice which brings new life to others.
Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
will show the love of the Risen Christ by bring-ing your love to those who live in fear and
doubt, loneliness and dread.
WE THANK EACH OF YOU for the great love you show to our Borromeo Family carrying on the work of Jesus and to those in need-by the generosity you display when you share your treasure, and all God’s gifts to you, given for others.

Readings of the Week/Lecturas De La Semana
Today we begin the Easter Season, our 50-day meditation on the mystery of Christ's Resurrection. Our Gospel today tells us about the disciples' discovery of the empty tomb. It con-cludes by telling us that they did not yet understand that Jesus had risen from the dead. Thus, the details provided are not necessarily meant to offer proof of the Resurrection. The de-tails invite us to reflect upon a most amazing gift, that is faith in Jesus and his Resurrection.
Each of the four Gospels tells us that Jesus' empty tomb was first discovered by women. This is notable because in first-century Jewish society women could not serve as legal wit-nesses. In the case of John's Gospel, the only woman attend-ing the tomb is Mary of Magdala. Unlike the Synoptic ac-counts, John's Gospel does not describe an appearance of angels at the tomb. Instead, Mary is simply said to have ob-served that the stone that had sealed the tomb had been moved, and she runs to alert Simon Peter and the beloved disciple. Her statement to them is telling. She assumes that Jesus' body has been removed, perhaps stolen. She does not consider that Jesus has been raised from the dead.
Simon Peter and the beloved disciple race to the tomb, pre-sumably to verify Mary's report. The beloved disciple arrives first but does not enter the tomb until after Simon Peter. This detail paints a vivid picture, as does the detail provided about the burial cloths. Some scholars believe that the presence of the burial cloths in the tomb offers evidence to the listener that Jesus' body had not been stolen (it is understood that grave robbers would have taken the burial cloths together with the body).
The Gospel passage concludes, however, that even having seen the empty tomb and the burial cloths, the disciples do not yet understand about the Resurrection. In the passage that follows, Mary of Magdala meets Jesus but mistakes him for the gardener. In the weeks ahead, the Gospel readings from our liturgy will show us how the disciples came to believe in Jesus' Resurrection through his appearances to them. Our Easter faith is based on their witness to both the empty tomb and their continuing relationship with Jesus—in his appear-ances and in his gift of the Holy Spirit.
