Basic information about TALIS

TALIS is an international, large-scale survey of schoolteaching workforces, teaching conditions, and learningenvironments in participating countries.

It offers an opportunity for teachers and school principals toprovide input into education analysis and policydevelopment.

Cross-country analysis from TALIS allows participatingcountries to identify others facing similar challenges and tolearn from other policy approaches.

The first cycle of TALIS was conducted in 2008 in 24countries and the second cycle in 2013 in 38 countries.

Sampling for TALIS 2018

Main survey All Lower Secondary Schools in Cyprus (about 100) 20 - 30 teachers from each school the principal

Teachers will be selected randomly by TALIS 2018 NationalCentre

All information that is collected in this study will betreated confidentially. Participants are guaranteed thatneither the school, nor any school personnel will beidentifiable in any report on the results of the study.

Appointment of School Coordinator (SC).

Training participation of SC.

Filling in the Teacher Listing Form by SC.

Administration of the Cover Letters by SC according to the Teacher Tracking Form.

Filling in the Principal and the Teacher Questionnaires by theprincipal and the randomly chosen teachers.

Retention of a copy of the completed Teacher Listing Form and the Teacher Tracking Form by SC.

Return the completed Teacher Tracking Form and any other print-out material to TALIS 2018 National Centre.

You will fill in/check teacher information in the Teacher Listing Form and upload it

at http://keea-talis.pi.ac.cy/talis/.Until 22/12/2017

The sample of the teachers will be randomly chosen electronically. You will receive the list (Teacher Tracking Form) via email until

22/02/2018. You will receive the Cover Letters by

post before 27/02/2018.

You will receive Teacher Tracking Form and you will send a reply email for

confirmation of receiving it. Until 27/02/2018

You will receive and administrate the Cover Letters for the Principal and for the

randomly chosen Teachers. 28/02/2018

Please remind the Principal and the randomly chosen Teachers to fill in the

questionnaire. Continuous communication with TALIS 2018 National

Centre. 01/03/2018 – 30/03/2018

You will fill in the missing information in the Teacher Tracking Form about the

return status of the teacher questionnaire and return it to the National Centre. Until

30/03/2018
