An argument against

Nuclear Power

MEETING 1 MEETING 2 MEETING 3

Show animations; explain project; give them the web links to watch the animations again and have them develop research questions individually. Working the room, suggest questions if necessary. If time permits they may begin research to decide which side of the debate they want to be on.

Pro’s and Con’s work in separate groups to develop at least five solid points for the debate. They must develop a 5 minute presentation for the beginning which may include audio/visual and a wrap up statement for the end. They must also develop visual displays- either Pinterest or other photo gallery type program to make posters

Live debate – invite an audience and video tape for intravision

-Or-In small groups mixing pro’s and con’s, have them work cooperatively to create online video debates using Goanimate or other similar tool. Vote on which ones might be shown on intravision.

What is “global warming” and how is it related to burning of fossil fuels? (Naturalist)

What current day politician/s shares your opinion about nuclear power?  What is their political agenda?  (Interpersonal)

What type of music expresses your feeling about nuclear power?  Explain. You may compose something of your own or select something published by someone else, past or present. (Think about the characters in the animations. What period of music would they listen to?) (Musical/Rhythmic)

If you lived near a nuclear power plant, how would it effect you and your family?   (Intrapersonal)

How far into the future do you think we will be using nuclear power? Are we doing enough to protect ourselves from nuclear waste? (Existentialist)

Name at least one artist who has expressed his/her ideas about nuclear power? Include a picture of the artwork  in your argument and explain the artist’s message (Visual/Spacial)

Find a television news clip about or related to nuclear power and be prepared to share your opinion about it. (Linguistic)
