2017-18FISFREESTYLE/FREESKIINGJUNIORWORLDCHAMPIONSHIPS

1. PHILOSOPHY:

U.S.SkiandSnowboardwillselectonlythemostqualifiedathleteswiththeGREATESTOPPORTUNITIESFORWINNINGMEDALSatthe2018JUNIORWORLDCHAMPIONSHIPSANDFUTURECHAMPIONSHIPS.Selectioncriteriawillbebasedonworld-classperformancesduringaperiodofelite-levelcompetition.

2. QUOTAS:

AthleteswillbeselectedfromMoguls,DualMogulsdisciplines.ThetotalnumberofathleteswillberestrictedtothestartquotaasdeterminedbyFIS.Themaximumnumberofathletesmaybeeight(8)athletestotal,four(4)persex/discipline.DisciplinesincludedattheFISJuniorWorldChampionshipsareMO,DM.U.S.Ski&Snowboardwillmanagealllogisticsandqualification.

3. ELIGIBILITY:

Theagelimitforthe2018FISJuniorWorldChampionshipswillbebyyearofbirth:from1998-2003forMoguls.

4. NAMINGOFTHEPARTICIPANTS:

TheU.S.FISJuniorWorldathleteswillbenamedbyatleast3weekspriortotheevent.TheywillbeannouncedattheU.S.Ski&SnowboardofficesandpostedontheU.S.Ski&Snowboardwebsitewww.ussa.org

5.COACHINGSTAFF:

MaximumJuniorWorldChampionshipscoachingstaffwillnotexceedthree(3)coaches.U.S.Ski&Snowboardwillsendaminimumof1coach.DomesticcoachorcoacheswillbechosenbyU.S.Ski&Snowboardstaff.

6. INTERNATIONALFEDERATIONRULES:

Allqualifyingcompetitionsaregovernedbytheinternationalfederationrulesofcompetition.Theinternationalfederationforsnowsports,asrecognizedbytheIOC,istheFIS.Allcriteriaastheyrelatetorules,regulationsandcompetitioncalendarsaresubjecttochangesbasedonchangesbytheFIS,theUSOCandtheIOC.

7. SELECTIONPROCEDURES–SummaryofObjectiveSelection:

Athletesshallbenominatedtotheteambasedonthefollowingprocess:

8.ObjectivecriteriaMoguls/DualMoguls–

Four (4) athletes per gender per discipline will be selected by objective criteria below in order ofimportance.MogulsandDualMogulsisconsideredoneTeam,athletesqualifiedforsingleswillalsoskiinduals.

1.CurrentU.S.FreestyleSkiTeam:A,BorDTeammembersinmoguls.Tieswillbebrokenby:

a.BestWorldCupfinishduringthe2017-18season

b.Currentrankinginthe2017-18WorldCupStandingslistwithintherelevantdiscipline

c.Currentrankinginthe2017-18NorAmGrandPrixlistwithinrelevantdiscipline.

2.CurrentJuniorWorldChampionorInternationalYouthChampion(ifageeligible)insinglemoguls

3.2017JuniorNationalChampion(ifageeligible)insinglemoguls.
