design studio:doc. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Rothbauer

locality:Braník/Modřany, Prague, Czech Republic

purpose:urban structure

description:The task of this project was to make an urban project in a group of students. the site was defi ned by the highway and Braník bridge. Other students solved other areas up to the railway station Modřanská. The fi nal solution was a complex urban study of this part of the city. Our solution was a generous urban structure solved down to the scale of layouts. Into our design we inte-grated old buildings of the ice factory and Braník brewery. These buildings made an important composi-tional axis and we connected them by a long square. Other compositional axis of this area is Modřanská street, which is more a baricade than a value of this part of the city. That was the reason why we tried to make a comfortable connection betwen these two separated areas.

design studio:Prof. Ing. akad. arch. Alena Šrámková

locality:Tyrš Bridge, Přerov, Czech Republic

purpose:Spa, cafe

description:The spa is situated near the new Tyrš bridge in Přerov. The building is an “answer“ for the old functional-

ist gymnasium on the opposite side of the river. The building is designed for relaxation and wellness. The

original shape of the building was a block which was cut out. The whole building was designed using an

8x8m module. One of the most exposed part of the groundfl oor is a large glazed surfaces providing nice

view over the river. At the fi rst fl oor the building is accented by a glazed corner. Internal spaces are orient-

ed into the building for making a more intimate atmosphere.

03COMPLEX OF BUILDINGS

design studio:doc. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Rothbauer

locality:Masaryk railway station, Prague, Czech Republic

assignment:complex of buildings/urban study

description:My intention was to bring more parks and greenry into the centre of Prague and simultaneously connect the space in front of the main railway station and Štvanice island through the belt of greenery. The design takes into account calming of the highway. Today the frequency of the highway is 100 000 cars/day. The new project counts with 45 000cars/day even less at some places. This is one of the two reasons why I put the highway down to ground level. The second reason is proposed cancellation of Masaryk railway station. After this modifi cations the highway will be transformed into a city boulevard.

Other important modifi cation was the displacing of bus station Florenc under the main railway station. The

main reason of this step was to try to centralise the public transport system. The designed structure re-

spects old roads and buildings and simultaneously creates new public spaces.

04APARTMENT BUILDING WITH CAFE

design studio:prof. Ing. akad. arch. Alena Šrámková

locality:Na Perštýně street, Prague, Czech Republic

purpose:apartments, cafe bar

description:The site is situated in the centre of Prague between two buildings - an old baroque two-storey house and a six-storey apartment house from the 19th century. I designed a building which respects both of it´s neighbors. In the fi rst two storeys there is a cafebar, other four storeys are for living.

05SHAM SPIRITUAL OASIS

design studio:Ing. arch. Aleš Lang

locality:desert near by the Damask, Syria

purpose:community centre

description:The building is situated in open countryside surrounded by the desert. That is the reason why stone is the main construction material. Other materials used to a lesser extent were concrete, wood and sheet metal. The building is designed for organizing workshops, exhibitions, lectures and other smaller social events. The building is divided into several separated volumes connected and forming the overall shape. Each part has it´s function and serves as kitchen, galery, workroom, dormitory, etc. The structural system is thick stone walls with lot of small windows embed deep into the wall. The dormitory has no living rooms close to external walls-this causes smaller overheating of internal rooms. The courtyard into the building is surrounded by an arcade.

06“CUBE” - INTERACTIVE SCULPTURE

description:I tried to design an interactive structure between architecture and sculpture. My inspiration were sculp-tures by Miloslav Fekar and structures by Martin Rajniš. I designed an assembled structure in proportions of a small room which can change it´s shape. First shape is a cold big cube which can be transformed into more organic shape by human power. Without hu-man presence this object will be only a cold cube without any live. As we know every space infl uences us.

Here we have a completely different situation. Space doesn´t infl uence man but man infl uences space.

07design studio:Ing.arch. Luboš Pata

locality:Jankovice u Holešova, Czech Republic

purpose:family house

description:The building site is situated at the edge of the village near the forest. Site slopes slightly north. Task was to design a family house for three children an their parents. On the ground fl oor there is a living room,

kitchen, parents bedroom, cloakroom, bathroom and entrance corridor. Two children rooms and a small

bathroom are situated in the attics. Garage is separated.
