EJP-4 and EJX-4 for flat fabric
Upholstery fabric, home furnishing fabric,
mattress ticking, bed, table and hotel linen,
damasks, silk and lining, neckwear, labels
and narrow fabric etc..
EJT-4 for terry fabric
Highest quality standards are met thanks
to the use of patented technical features
especially designed for terry weaving.
EJS-4 for high speeds
For highest speed rapier and air jet weaving
machines. Special additional components
allow high speed weaving with maximum
prevention of wear and reading-in safety.
Even with high number of hooks highest
speeds can be run thanks to the arrange-
ment of the lifting knives in warp direction.
EJP-4 for plush
A simple pulley device permits the forma-
tion of the necessary 3 shed positions for
weaving double plush. A high number of
hooks allows for large pattern repeats to be
woven.
EJP-4 for carpets
Individual layout of the shed formation gear
combined with a special version of pulley
units permits the production of wire loom
and double carpets due to the solid con-
struction and flexibility of this machine.
l High speed plus maximum functional
reliability
l High load with minimum wear
l Simplest operation and maintenance
due to the open construction and easily
accessed magnet and hook modules
Controller C-20
The simple yet durable design uses a mini-
mum of moving mechanical components
and the new electronic control system is
comprised of modules that are designed
especially for the mill environment, thereby
permitting this machine to be used in all
fields of application.
Our standard series machine is distin-
guished by its flexibility, reliability and
functional safety under high load capacity.
EJP-4 is the result of further development
of our proven model EJP-2 high speed Jac-
quard machine. The reliable hook system
as well as the concept of mechanical and
electronic modules was maintained. The
new composite frame construction enables
a complete integration of the Jacquard ma-
chine head and its auxiliary components,
such as the monoblock angle gear. This
results in optimum stability of the Jacquard
machine. By using new materials and
advanced technology, it was possible to
perfect the EJP-4.
Main features
Our electronic high speed Jacquard ma-
chines are suitable for all types of modern
high speed weaving machines (air jet,
rapier, or projectile) for the production of all
types of Jacquard woven fabric. Jacquard
machines in special versions are available
depending on whether flat or pile fabric is
to be produced.

Description of Systems
Technical features
Shed formation
The shed is formed by curved disks (or
optionally by double curved disks in case of
the Model EJX-4) that have the precise lift
and dwell characteristics to suit the specific
shed geometry of each individual weaving
machine. The shed lifting elements of the
machine are maintenance free to a very
high degree or are connected to the central
lubrication. Since every lifting knife is
always of the same length regardless of the
number of hooks, there is the advantage
that even in different sized machines all ele-
ments and settings are always the same.
According to the loom width curved disks
are used with shed stop.
Maintenance
The sliding features have been improved
considerably by using high-tech material for
the hook and magnet modules and for bear-
ings so that the machine is maintenance
free to a very high degree. This is also
ensured, among others, by the use of a
computer-controlled central lubrication sys-
tem. The open design of the magnet and
hook modules permit quick and easy ac-
cess to the individual components, thereby
greatly enhancing operating convenience.
6 7
Method of operation
According to the double lift open shed prin-
ciple. Open shed formation by pulleys that
are readily accessed. V-shed can be adjusted
sensitively.
Hook system
The hook system was designed at the out-
set to withstand the demanding conditions
that are encountered in broad weaving. The
movement of the carbon fiber hooks is sup-
ported by a spring that is in contact with the
hook only in the reading-in phase. During the
upward and downward motion, however,
the spring is not under pressure which en-
sures free movement of the hooks.
Arrangement of the lifting knives
One of the major, patented engineering
differences is the lifting knives which run
in the warp direction. Regardless of the
number of hooks in the machine, every
lifting knife operates in conjunction with 64
hooks (resp. with 96 hooks in case of the
Model EJX-4). This means that every lifting
knife is of the same length and is subject to
the same level of stress regardless of the
machine size. In different sized machines
only the number of knives, rather than
the length of the knives, changes. Thanks
toThanks to this concept of construction
and due to the few moving parts a per-
fectly smooth operation of the machine is
ensured. The reading-in of the hooks in the
lower shed position results in less load on
the lower warp ends.
Modular construction
The module unit consists of a hook module
and a magnet module. Each module
contains 32 pattern points. Both modules
are made of plastic reinforced by carbon
fiber and can be easily separated. Two of
these module rows (resp. 3 rows in case
of machines in 6048‘, 10752‘ and 12096’
size) are placed one behind the other so
that each knife controls a total of 64 hooks
(resp. 96 in case of 3 rows). “Quick-change-
technology” offers the advantage that you
can specify the Jacquard machine with a
larger machine frame size without hav-
ing the full amount of hooks inserted. The
machine can be expanded later by installing
additional hook modules, if required. Or
conversely, the machine capacity can be
reduced by removing hook modules. This
offers flexibility with respect to investment
decisions, because future changes can be
taken into account.
Harness guiding
A simple, clearly structured harness course
guarantees optimum sliding features with a
vibration stable arrangement of the pulleys.
In addition, harness neck cords with plastic
combinations and plastic snap hooks permit
quick and easy mounting and change of
the harness. The glass grid, as a part of
the standard scope of delivery, ensures a
higher longevity.

Magnet module MAP 4 (ASIC)
In a customer specific chip (ASIC) which
was developed in conjunction with the
Fraunhofer Institute, all electronic compo-
nents for the control of the magnets were
combined. During the development of these
ASICs special attention was given to the
high requirements of the textile industry.
The data exchange is secured by a protocol.
Consequently, faulty data can be recognized
immediately. High reliability is achieved by
disconnection and short circuit recognition
for each magnet control and by surveillance
of the temperature and voltage of each
component. GROSSE succeeded with the
development of ASICs to reduce electronic
components in the Jacquard machine to a
minimum, which provides the customer

EJS-4
The EJS-4 high speed Jacquard machine is
based on the Model EJP-4 and its proven
basic components. The EJS-4 is distin-
guished by special components which
permit the machine to achieve very high
speeds.
The open, easily accessed, modular construction guarantees simple operation and maintenance.
with increased reliability in the weaving mill.
This solution has proved most successful in
practice
By using a special gear technology a
counter- balanced sense of rotation of the
two shed formation gears is obtained. This
results in an equalization of the moving
parts, thereby ensuring a smooth, low
vibration performance of the machine with
optimum reading-in safety of the hooks.

EJT-4
The terry Model of the electronic Jacquard
machine also has the same proven principle
of operation as the Model EJP-4. The
particular technical features of the EJP-4,
such as
- divided harness guiding board in con-
junction with - two-sided shed opening via
different curved disks guarantee perfect
pile loop formation and technically superior
fabric. A new special feature for pattern-
controlled selvedge ends with temporally
shifted shed opening has the additional
advantage that perfectly even selvedges
are achieved when weaving borders with
different weft yarns.
Terry specialists make use of the flexibility
of the EJT-4 which allows for the pile warp
ends and the ground warp ends to be
adjusted differently.
The harness guiding board is divided into
two sections,
- the front section for the pile warp and
- the back section for the ground warp.
Each section can be adjusted independently
Network
With the use of standardized network
protocols, various server and operating
systems can be employed. Consequently,
integration with existing network structures
ispossiblewithoutanyproblems.Naturally,
the new Windows-based GROSSE JAC
ARTISTWINdesignsystemcanalsobe
integrated. Therefore, all the tools you need
for the complete process, from design
creation to the finished fabric, are available
from one source.
