SOURCE ROCK SAMPLING

l  Many of samples are unclear for representative source rock of shale basins in terms of sample locations

l  Source rock samples should be taken carefully from outcrops or drill holes, considering basin feature and geology

Preliminary SHALE BASINS MAP OF ASIA

§  Integrated basins map of Asia showing the potential shale oil/gas regions

1.  Map geographic boundaries of basins that have potentials of shale gas/oil.

2.  Map potential shale oil/gas formations in the basins 3.  Draw a representative cross section of each basin to

clarify the potential shale oil/gas strata 4.  Integrate and map all the basins on a GIS basis 5.  Describe each basin with shale property 6.  Publish an integrated shale oil/gas potential map with a

text of description

BASIN MAPPING AND CROSS SECTION

l First, draw geographic extents of each basin on the country map using existing basin maps with XY coordinates

l ex) Basin map of Argentina

BASIN MAPPING AND CROSS SECTION

l Draw major formation boundaries in the basins with XY coordinates, especially, potential shale formations

l Draw major cross section with a particular emphasis on the potential shale strata

GIS MAPPING

l  by KIGAM using QGIS, which is a cross-platform free and open- source desktop geographic information system (GIS) application that provides data viewing, editing, and analysis

l  QGIS can be downloaded at www.qgis.org

DESCRIPTION of each formation in basins

l Make a report and publication Ø Write about each basin and shale formations with analyzed TOC and mineralogy data

Ø Then, we will be able to go to the next step, resources calculation
