SET UP

Place two cones five yards apart. Divide the players into the two groups, positioning them on opposite cones. Give one group a ball.

ACTION

A1 passes the ball to B1 and moves forward to apply passive pressure, but not tackle. With their first touch B1 pushes the ball around A1 and passes to A2. The sequence continues.

HOW IT HELPS

In a game, especially in midfield, you’re under constant pressure. There’s no time to take a touch and think. Your first touch has to take you away from danger. Andres Iniesta doesn’t just control the ball with his first touch – he sets up his next move. This drill teaches a player to stay one step ahead.
