The Problems We Face

New Cars are fuel efficient but expensive

People are going to drive…

…so what can we do?

Drive more efficiently

• Over revving your engine wastes fuel.

• Change gear at around 2000-2500rpm for optimum efficiency

• Driving at 45-50mph in 5th gear is the most fuel efficient speed to drive at.

• At speeds over 70mph vehicles use vast amounts of fuel.

• Unnecessary weight means the engine has to work harder so take those golf clubs out!

• Roof racks create air resistance and increase fuel consumption

• Open the windows or use an eco setting if it’s really needed, however…

• If travelling at high speeds having your windows open will create extra drag.

• Check tyre pressure every week and before long journeys.

• Ensure the vehicle is fully serviced regularly.

• Poorly maintained vehicles can mean the engine has to work harder and use more fuel.
