High Quality SMS Traffic
Normal vs High priorityPurposes of mobile messaging for companies are divided in High and Normal priority messages
Banks use SMS for secure logins
Transport companies use SMS to notify drivers of destinations
Messages should always be delivered for both purposes
But speed of delivery for these purposes may and can vary

Business Critical Processes
Business Critical ProcessesCM processes hundreds of thousands of SMS Messages p/h for national and international banks
1. Messages run through CM’s SMS Gateway platform
2. The SMS Gateway sends the messages to the right operators in the right country
3. Operators deliver the messages to the right mobile device of their customers
There is a difference between how fast CM can deliver its messages to the operators
and the speed with which operators deliver messages to the handsets of their customers.

Do you have coverage?
Do You Have Coverage? It is impossible to always deliver 100% of all messages to handsets
Possible reasons:
No network coverage
Phone numbers are disposed
No correct international phone format (see how to prevent this: http://bit.ly/1AP5NZ7)
User settings in phone
Etc.
The speed of delivery depends on the type of platform
and how fast an operator delivers them to handsets

A Matter of Miliseconds
Just a Matter of Milliseconds
WWW.CMTELECOM.COM 11
• CM’s platform processes
messages in high quality routes
to operators in 3 to 20
milliseconds.
• After 63 milliseconds 100% of
all SMS messages has been
delivered to the operators.
• CM’s platform has 0% downfall

Operator Point of View
From The Operator Point of View
WWW.CMTELECOM.COM 13
• Dutch operators show different
SMS delivery speeds
• Vodafone has the fastest SMS
delivery speeds
• After 3,5 seconds more than
90% has been delivered
• 98% is the highest delivery rate
possible due to various reasons
(see slide 9)

Are you Selling Fairy Tales?
Are You Selling Fairy Tales?
SMS service providers who guarantee they will deliver
100% of the messages to handsets in just 2 seconds are selling fairy tales!
SMS service providers simply cannot influence operators’ delivery rates and speed
Delivering an SMS batch in two seconds to 100% of pre-destined handsets is simply impossible
Ambition is always to deliver as much messages as possible in shortest time possible
FACT: people change phone numbers, switch off phones and lose coverage

Unique SMS Retry System
Retry System & Beating Fake DLR
CM has systems to assure the highest possible delivery rate
Every message sends back a delivery report (DLR)
That information tells whether or not the message was accepted by the operator and delivered to the handset
If not successfully delivered, the SMS Retry System resends the message
Challenge: Increase of Fake DLR’s by aggregators
Fake DLR’s tell that a message has been delivered, but in fact it has not been processed at all.
CM is actively tracking fake DLR’s and if proven are registered on Blacklists

In Conclusion
CM depends on the reachability and uptime of operators
If an operator can be reached, the messages get to them in milliseconds
Faster routes and operators can be selected to deliver
However, not a single SMS service provider can guarantee 100% delivery to handsets in two seconds
That’s just a fairy tale….
