The project explores the potential use of Platform Hillhouse, an offshore rig that lies in federal waters 12 kilometers off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
The life of an offshore platform is on average 25 years. Built in 1969, the site has well exceeded its life span for regular pressure driven oil production and has been subject to :::Q~Z=*was occurring at Hillhouse and several other platforms.
#fracking lies some of the worlds largest potential of geothermal energy. Harnessing Santa >'Geo-Rig and begins to change the social, political and environmental implications of these offshore giants.

Water is pressure pumped into the earthThe return thermal energy in the form of steam is brought up through the production well and stored in the waste water tankThe heat energy is used to boil a secondary liquid with a lower boiling point in the heat exchanger.
The boiled liquid is passed into tur-bines where the kinetic energy pro-duces electricityUnused electricity is sent to the shore through underground power cables
Carbon from onshore oil exhausts is transported to the rig after stages of dehydrationCarbon is stored in a compressor tank and used for the algae walls The rest is pumped into the ground for sequestration through light well sur-rounding casingThe algae walls use sunlight during the day and LED at night. Freshwater algae takes about a week to harvest. The walls are an automated system that take in waste water and CO2 and release freshwater and oxygen.
The freshwater is stored and used for the spa and other building needs. The oxygen is used in deepwater diving oxygen tanks. The algae from the wells is stored in algae poolsThe algae is transported to shore to be used as a biofuel

Hillhouse Resort and Spa is a self supporting, energy producing, offshore luxury destination. consumer-facility interaction. The possibilities for offshore platforms are many; from dive centres to vertical farms. The current negative impact of offshore platforms can be replaced by a positive outlook on their future potential.

A Museum for the City is located beside the Aurelian Walls in Rome, between the gates ""'
materiality, compression and intensity. Documenting these aspects of the site, the design is based on the concept of nodes and arteries and a way to unite movement along the site. ''

At Viale Castrense, the narrow corner space on the outside of the wall is resolved by an elevated pathway that creates a degree of separation
At Via Nola, the elevated walkway continues and goes over the wall moving pedestrians across the intersection.
At Porta San Giovanni, the steps mirror those at the entrance of Basilica San Giovanni and create an informal entrance into the park.

BUILDING STRATEGY{:are being explored. The idea of nodes and arteries is brought down to the level of the building; the nodes are 'the pathways are linking temporary exhibition rooms.
The circulation path comes into the building, splits at the amphitheater into multiple directions and converges again at the end of the building in the library and cafe.
